Reading the next manager thread. I've got to be honest, I'm not sure when our fan base turned into such a crying bunch of Jessie's.
Has our stint in the premier league warped peoples opinions into us being a club over our size. Linked with the likes of Moyes and Lamps, managers from within the prem and we're turning our noses up.
The reaction around Lampard is laughable.
Once upon a time we'd have backed most managers coming in.
Yet here we are slagging them before an appointments made.
I'm all for people saying he's not my choice and the reasons why, it's the people that just post **** like, were done with lampard, must be a joke etc.
Some of you wouldn't be happy with Pep or Klopp.

I take it you’re 1 of those who’d be happy with a Bellamy/Jackson duo. Proper small club mentality.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 4:39 pmReading the next manager thread. I've got to be honest, I'm not sure when our fan base turned into such a crying bunch of Jessie's.

Hiring an unpopular manager is guaranteed to be a disaster.
Teams need the fans to believe, nobody would believe in Frank.

Re: Fan reactions
It's got nothing to do with thinking we're bigger than we are, but whether we believe a manager can do a job for us.
Moyes has a good track record, Lampard has a...........I'd quite happily take someone I'd never heard of,IF he can get results.
I also think you underestimate us, our track record since 2009 has been the envy of many so-called bigger clubs. Financial stability is always a fine line, but we appear to be in a healthier state than many of our peers. I can imagine we'd be attractive to many out of work managers.

Re: Fan reactions
Don't really get why fans voicing their concerns over a potential calamitous manager appointment is thinking we are bigger than we are?
Also we ARE bigger currently than we have any right to be, but this has been achieved over a 10-15 year period of good business dealings and hard work.
Should we now just accept an average appointment, as we are "little old Burnley" after all?

Quite a few of the same people who think they know tatics & how to get the best out of players than the professionals, most would struggle to run a bath.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 4:39 pmReading the next manager thread. Re: Fan reactions
Why doesn't everyone and especially all the cry arses on here just trust the process that is going on. The board are trying to get the best man for the job and if that turns out to be Lampard, then so be it. I'm sure there will be others and the odds will change and fluctuate. No-one really knows who or how many they are interviewing, so until there is a decision announced there's nothing we can do. One thing is for sure - whoever becomes the next manager won't please everyone! UTC

Re: Fan reactions
It's perfectly fine and grounded to not want Lampard.
Our incredible ex-manager, currently at the helm of Frank's former club, is doing a far better job than he ever did there, with fewer players and even more madness to deal with.
Bringing Lampard to Burnley would signify regression, imo.

Re: Fan reactions
Why are we all whinging about potential candidates. The suspense of a new manager, the pros and cons of each candidate, the betting odds, will he be foreign, will he be British. I find it more entertaining than some of the PL games we played in. Good and constructive debate can be fun
Re: Fan reactions
The reaction to Dyche was probably worse.

Re: Fan reactions
People are probably reacting to mention of Lampard
because of his less-than-stellar record, that's all.
Did ok at Derby (playoff final)
Sacked at Chelsea
Sacked at Everton
Poor in his caretaker spell back at Chelsea after Potter got the bullet.
1 Win in eleven and a bottom half finish.
Bit uninspiring.

Re: Fan reactions
I don’t want lampard but I do think we now have fans that have very short term memories.
I remember when Bolton fans where unhappy when they where finishing mid table in the premier league and wanted regular European places …
We were in division two and Coca Cola championship during this time and being in Bolton’s position was beyond my wildest dreams and it actually happened …. We became a part of the premier league furniture and got into Europe
The list goes on for clubs that have dwindled
Charlton
Wigan
Portsmouth
WBA
We should want the best and want to win every game but I will always remember and keep in mind where we have been and that those times could come again
So I’m always grateful for what we have achieved and the strong position we are in now
It should not be taken for granted
So like some of the arrogant Bolton / Wigan fans of the past - I didn’t think it would happen to our fan base - but it certainly has

No. What I don't do is slag a manager off, who could be out next man, to high heavens before giving him a chance. Id be a little embarrassed saying some of the shite put on there and then chanting "frank lampards claret and blue army". Absolute **** houses.
And the difference between me and you and me murger is id give a Jackson/Bellamy combo every chance of succeeding by supporting them rather than dragging them into the ****.
Small club mentality Vs small mentality

Re: Fan reactions
Nope, it’s definitely small club mentality on your part.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 6:31 pmNo. What I don't do is slag a manager off, who could be out next man, to high heavens before giving him a chance. Re: Fan reactions
No problem with people voicing opinions on a potential new manager.
What I find odd is that some persist in moaning about any and all aspects of the club and have done since the owners came in.
It’s pretty pathetic really, I’ve no idea why they continue.

Re: Fan reactions
Just because I don’t want a manager, doesn’t mean I won’t support them at the ground.
This is a message board. If you can’t voice your opinion on here or at the ground, then when can you?
Re: Fan reactions
Then go back to the original post. In it I say I've no problem with people saying, I don't want manger x for this reason. It's a forum and debate is healthy.
I made it known none of the candidates inspire me.
There is a difference from that and grown adults writing some of the pretty/petulant/arrogant (take your pick) comments on the next manager thread. I suggest if you think I have a small club mentality because of this, it may be more to do with which side of the fence you sit on as a human being rather than anything else.

Re: Fan reactions
Which bit of Lampard is a proven failure as a manager don't you get? Media circus is not what we need.
Re: Fan reactions
Was getting Derby to the play off final a failure? Was getting Chelsea into 4th while under a transfer ban and promoting youth a failure?summitclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 7:01 pmWhich bit of Lampard is a proven failure as a manager don't you get? Media circus is not what we need.

Re: Fan reactions
Getting to a play off final ‘could’ be considered a success, depending on expectations.
Carlos Corberan is seemingly highly thought and touted for other jobs (including ours) but he’s lost two play off finals…

It's another proven fact that most star players don't make good managers. Lampard is one of a long line. Stay well clear BFC.

Re: Fan reactions
Should we be grateful for being linked with Lampard? I would argue he should be grateful to be linked with us. He has a pretty poor record as a manager and is not getting any serious links to better jobs.
Not sure anyone is really moaning about Moyes either, he is a successful manager and I think most acknowledge that. I hope he gets the job.
