Not a chance we accept that when there are a few clubs reportedly interested. Can't blame them after they got Pope on the cheap though.

I still think he will be a top keeper as long as he is given time to mature, has a solid robust defence in front of him and is allowed to kick it long at times.

With what we reportedly paid for him and his contract until 2027 they can jump in the Tyne.
Has to be worth more than £25m, purely on potential.

Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
He will be, but Vinny threw him under the bus last season.
It’d take a lot for him to come back for us after that, so we’ll probably sell him this summer.

Hung out to dry last season. So unfair on him.

Probably around the going rate...he'll go for something in that ball park.
Had he been a product of our youth system and had the season he's just had you could probably divide that by 10.

We can afford to sit on this one, with Chelsea and Liverpool supposedly interested, plus Bayern. Would be nice to do this once our new manager is employed, so that he can instantly be involved

Completely agree Tony. Awfully mismanaged. Also awfully treated by some of our fans (thankfully only online, in the main).

Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
Towards the end of last season it was being reported we’d paid £15m for him rather than the £20m reported when we first signed him.

I presume he will have a release clause, if so the decision is for JT to decide who he will go to

Team with the biggest pot taking the ****
Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
I’m not sure they do, given PSR. It’s thought they have a very limited pot this summer and might even need to sell first.
Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
I've seen a few people say that but based on what? Most sources seem to say its 15m upfront with 4m add ons.

Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
LongsideClaret, who has got quite a lot right with bits and pieces on here, posted earlier he got told it was £12m upfront.boyyanno wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 3:23 pmI've seen a few people say that but based on what? Most sources seem to say its 15m upfront with 4m add ons.

Fab Romano at the time said it was £14m + add ons.

Alan Nixon, first to report our interest in Trafford last summer, said it was £13.7m upfront potentially rising to £17m.
Hence I went with the £12-14m.

I bet a pound to a penny that he wanted to play every match he was picked for, regardless of his form or results.

Get the bid up to 18m with another 5m in add ons and call it a deal and file it under wrong signing and wrong time and do all we can to keep muric next season

I read the two clubs has discussed it last week with a bid of £16m offered by Newcastle which we turned down as we’re looking for £20m. Another £4m is pocket change to Newcastle.

Dropped by Burnley and rightly so, then picked by England. Differing messages and suspected then that he'd be moving on this summer.
Hope the lad reaches his potential, the Premier league was just too soon this season.

That sums it up.
Used when he should have integrated. Kept place, when should have been dropped - for his own sake.
Manager waited until crowd voiced displeasure, which undermined the lad.

I’m sure he’ll have a good future but to start him and keep playing him last season was just really really poor management. Hopefully Newcastle up their bid.
Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
Fabrizio Romano saying that City have 20% sell on clause.

Sell on clauses are usually based on a percentage of the 'profit'.

Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
No doubt about it whatsoever in my mind. He'll benefit from bulking out but the lad will go far.
His confidence must have been shot to pieces with the suicidal football we played last year. But even in spite of all that he still kept us in numerous games and made countless great saves.

Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
Remember - both the Trafford & Ramsey deals were complicated because of buy back clauses on top of everything else.

If Newcastle do manage to sign him .. I doubt very much he will start there as Number 1 ../ probably sensibly get him involved slowly

Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
They bid £15m, we want £20m, so we will sell him for £10.5m.
Exactly the same as we did with VK and Munich.
When it comes to negotiating the club are a joke.

Seriously? Did you do maths at school? I think he means we are a joke at negotiations as he’s intimidated we’d sell him for -£4.5M than they first bid.

With a good GK coach ie Billy Mercer or similar , and a bit of bulking out his physique,he could in 3-4 years be the best English keeper in the PL

I'm still struggling with the calculations, he's suggesting we'd accept an offer substantially less than what was offered?
Successful Wall Street investors, in his opinion, have and will continue to use this as their transfer template?
Is that what he's suggesting?

Re: Newcastle bid £15m for Trafford
We agreed a £57m buy back with city apparently. Very unlikely we also allowed anyone else to buy him for £15m.
If we had any release clause like that our whole model really is ****.

Given the context. Possibly the worst signing in the clubs history
Summed up our terrible season. I wish the lad well, hope he will have a good career. Somewhere else

It's not like we're going to let our England International keeper go to Newcastle for next to nothing, is it?
