What are they feeding the batsmen on down at Lowerhouse - 300 plus in successive innings for only five wickets in total.
Burnley are 170/9 at the close of their innings.

House 328/2 with 7 left
Whitehead 179no
Salpietro 38no
We think Whitehead has the all time highest score for Lowerhouse and the all time highest total is well within reach

Whitehead gone for 189...highest score for Lowerhouse and joint 9th highest scorer in Lancs league history. We think its the highest score by an amateur.
A remarkable innings and a deserved standing ovation

JJW 189 - highest by a Lowerhouse player ever
JJW 189 - highest by an amateur in Lancashire League history
380 - Lowerhouse highest score ever
Probably more… I’ll have a further scout.

Bit of a behind the scenes for anyone remotely interested. We score on Play Cricket Scorer Pro which distributes to the website/Play Cricket and the stream when we are at home.
Here is todays scorecard.

12 point wins for both Burnley & Lowerhouse. Previous leaders Darwen have lost too. Burnley go seven points clear at the top.

They always used to report the attendances in the local press and it was always the amount they’d taken at the gate which must have meant members weren’t counted.
I remember the Lowerhouse v Burnley game in 1963 when the gate receipts were just two kids going in and one of the two was me. The game was then washed out. Years later my mate got his money back but they still owe me.

As Hopey has pointed out above, (for the uninitiated) all matches can be followed live, ball by ball via the Play Cricket website as this is linked to the scoring in the score box at the grounds which is all done completely electronically these days. This might account for why the "legions" of Burnley CC fans are rarely actually seen at games. I don't know!

Also a number of grounds in the league have (admittedly fixed) cameras showing the game live on you tube and with it being you tube you can even wind back and see what you've missed. (Which at this very moment is bugger all, because I honestly don't think we'll get any cricket this afternoon unfortunately).

There’s a sadness to the old scorebooks disappearing. One poster on this board used to be the Burnley scorer and will have used the books.
RammyClaret61, in the days before he became Aussiefied, was the first to do an online ball by ball update online at Ramsbottom.
Often the updates on Play Cricket don’t work for Burnley games and often the one camera at Turf Moor doesn’t provide an acceptable watch on YouTube.

I know you had an issue at one game last season which was resolved and I’ve not spotted anything since at Lowerhouse. But Burnley have a regular problem. Are they not doing anything about it?

The old fashioned score books could be a work of art with the right scorer and an array of coloured pens, that's definitely true CT. It's also true to say the total reliance these days on getting an internet signal can throw a very unwelcome spanner in the works and make you realise that "technological progress" sometimes isn't all that!
The cameras are good up to a point, but again you're correct when you say it can be frustrating because they are fixed on the wicket and its surroundings and the action in the middle and when the ball is hit out of shot you don't see what happens to it. You can get both sides of the coin at times when you've no idea how far the ball has gone, then suddenly the umpire signals 4 or 6, but at other times the batter starts trudging away with his head down.

Burnley are smashing it about in the Lancashire Cup. 134/0 off 14 overs. Presume reduced overs.

Padiham all out for 93 away at Ormskirk. Having to travel there without a pro, as the competition doesn't allow sub pro's.

The competition is 45 overs but can't see if reduced. But you're expected to bowl 16 overs an hour in local league cricket. So obviously started late.

Greenmount are currently 284/1 after 34 overs against everyone's favourite Club, East Lancs ... they could well top 400 at this rate !

Ormskirk must be an extremely well run club. They are regularly in the latter rounds of the Lancashire Cup and were the opponents for both Lowerhouse and Burnley in their appearances in the final. They have also won it many times in their history. If Padiham can turn them over that would be some result.

Yeah, probably the hardest draw to get. They are top of the Liverpool comp and won it last year.

Good win for Burnley. Formby are 4th in the Liverpool comp.
Just seen that Lancashire's George Levelle played for Ormskirk yesterday. Must still be an open league, like semi pro football.

Pretty sure they’re all payed in that league, I don’t think there’s any rule that says you can’t pay amateurs

Ormskirk skipper is the son of a mate of mine who is a massive Clarets fan. Decent outfit. After toppling the league leaders yesterday Littleborough came crashing back to earth with a 9 wicket defeat to Little Lever.

Yeah, cricket has changed quite a lot in recent years but the Liverpool comp and Northern league used to be open leagues, as did the Palace shield.
Plenty of cash on offer in the Lancs league and the Bolton clubs.
