Today the funeral is taking place of his son Steven who at the age of 53 died suddenly a few weeks ago.
This has got to be the most unbelievably devastating thing to have to bury your only remaining child!
He had previously lost his son Tim to a road traffic accident whilst he was assistant manager at Burnley and his wife Helen also passed a few years ago.
My thoughts & sincere condolences go out to Sam at this time

That is too horrific to contemplate.
Loneliness of the worst kind.

Very sad. At times when we think we have got problems, sometimes they are minor compared to this.
I hope Sam has got some good friends and extended family who are supporting him at this difficult time.

Very sad, can't imagine what Sam and his family are going through.
Met Sam once many years ago in a pub off Deansgate after an away game at Maine Road.
He was with some friends but spotting our Burnley attire he made the effort to come over and talk to us for a few minutes about the game we'd just seen and BFC/footy in general.
Sincere condolences to Sam and all the family.

That’s really sad news. I remember his first son in the accident back in 2001. We tried to get our game called off at Gillingham.
Didn’t know Helen had passed away but to then lose his other son is shocking news.

That is shocking news. Really feel for him having lost a wife and son myself, but thankfully not two children. To me it would be unbearable. Stan too has had his pains as well with one of his sons and Pat (I think that was Mrs Ternant's name) passing in the last few years. Sincere condolences

So sad to hear this.
He was a big man with a big heart. I'll never forget him getting some players to sign autographs for my son at Wigan many years ago. My thoughts are with you.

Yes, Kath had been poorly for a while whilst Chris was very sudden and a massive shock to everyone.

I had a long chat with Stan on the phone during the pandemic and he told me about Chris. As you said, Kath was poorly for some time but to lose your son in the way he did Chris would have been so hard for Stan.
