Burnley to use Ticketmaster from next season

Post by ClaretTony » Thu Jun 20, 2024 3:07 pm

Seems we will still go through the current ticketing system but the new (Ticketmaster) platform will allow supporters to access all men’s home and away tickets, all women’s fixtures hosted at Turf Moor, Season Tickets, Memberships, Stadium tours and any other tickets for Club events, including Fan Zone events.

As said, it is still using the ticketing system so there will be the same restrictions. Having said that, it didn't work last season did it?

Now received this email which reads:

We are delighted to announce Burnley FC's new partnership with Ticketmaster Sport, our new ticketing platform for the 2024/25 season and onwards, aimed at enhancing the ticketing experience for fans.

The partnership means Burnley FC supporters will be able to benefit from Ticketmaster's advanced technology and gain access to features including a Virtual Venue, which allows users to see Turf Moor come to life when purchasing tickets.

Supporters will also have greater control of how they manage their tickets with season ticket holders able to upgrade, transfer to a friend or family, and return their tickets from their online account for any fixture they can't attend.

To help answer any questions regarding the partnership, we have put together some FAQs, you can find these on our website.

If you wish to find out further information, please contact the Burnley FC ticket office on ticketoffice@burnleyfc.com or call 01282 446800 (option 1).

It sounds great, but well, proof is in the pudding and all that. My pal had to go to the ticket office several times last season as my transfered ticket didn't want to scan.

Bloody marvellous. I went to my final big gig last week because of the nightmares I’ve had with ticketmaster over the years. The EU should step in and stop the monopoly these winkers have over tix and their excessive markup on tix. I realise that won’t help all yous in the UK, poor souls.

We have to use TM for Ireland home matches now, and it seems pretty straightforward. I've had no issues yet, either with having QR codes on my phone or printing the tickets out.

I'm not wanting to start an argument, but I go to lots of gigs and I can't remember the last time I bought tickets for them through Ticketmaster. Lots of other options and certainly not a monopoly as far as I can see.

(I accept this may be different outside of the UK though).

Furthermore, when I currently purchase the paper non digital away tickets I am happy to pay the £1.50 postage/handling fee.
In the past when I have bought concert tickets for family and friends I am sure ticketmaster charge a lot more than this as a handling fee? Also they charge this fee per ticket not per transaction.

N.B. Just looked at Club Website and it clearly states there will be no booking fee for tickets so that is good news.

We shouldn’t see any difference but the sales will be handled by Ticketmaster. That’s how I’ve read it.

Lots of areas within the club are being outsourced now. We’ve done it previously with the catering but brought it back in house and there was a time when we used Ticket Zone for tickets but again brought it back in house.

I think a lot of clubs do this now.

Nightmare company . Went to see maddness and the lightning seeds last year , ticketmaster sent me the e - tickets which didn't work . I had to go to the box office along with at least 500 others to get printed tickets ( extra charge of £5 each ) .Due to this we missed the lightning seeds !! PLUS , wasn't this company hacked in May regarding all customer details ?

I’m all for outsourcing if it’s cost effective and performance related. If we have brought the catering back in house that’s good because from what I’ve heard the standards were not met.

Never never heard a good thing about ticket master but hopefully it works

Ticketmaster are owned by Live Nation who manage and run almost all big sporting, entertainment and music festivals and events. That’s why it’s a monopoly because they can pick themselves to manage not only the event but also ticketing, merchandising, etc.

If it wasn’t a monopoly, the US Justice department wouldn’t currently be suing them for anti-trust laws to break up the company.

Preston North End made the same move this season as their existing Ticketing system provider decided to pull out of the market, it looks like the same with us ...

Ticketmaster has two sides to its business, the selling of tickets to major events etc, which all of us know about, and have had some problems with .... but they also have a division that provides the software, backup etc for Clubs to sell their own tickets, and it may be this that we're referring to ...

We outsourced catering and then brought it back in house around 2010. We then outsourced it again last year.

It looked clear when I wrote it but I can understand it was confusing.

As long as it's not the same as other events that 'use' Ticketmaster where the punter has to do all the online data inputting work and then gets charged an extra 'handling/ booking' fee for the privilege..

I really don’t understand this either

i thought the point of going to card was to “reduce waste”
Unless there’s a reason for needing a new card (change of seat/age category) then there’s no need for new cards every 2 years

I read it as just being for home tickets. Can we actually go to an away club like say Oxford and tell them that their tickets would have to be sold on Ticketmaster incurring the fee etc (as Im guessing Ticketmaster wont be doing this for free)?

Not a fan of Ticketmaster. It’s about cost cutting. There’ll be less people in the ticket office. Good luck when you have a problem. DIY online.

I read it as just being for home tickets. Can we actually go to an away club like say Oxford and tell them that their tickets would have to be sold on Ticketmaster incurring the fee etc (as Im guessing Ticketmaster wont be doing this for free)?
I'm really not sure just what Ticketmaster will actually be doing, seeing as we will only have probably a maximum of 3,000 tickets to sell per home game and for most games we'll probably only sell up to 1000 of those? Which would be small fry to them!
