Unusual for no comments 2 hours after an admin post. Maybe it’s the decent weather , maybe it’s the Euros , or maybe it’s because none of us have a clue what’s going on at the club

I don't know if I missed a discussion on this on the new manager thread, which I can't be arsed going back over.
You are suggesting that Kompany offered Jensen the job (presumably to replace Bellamy who "left"). Now we have Bellamy and his planned replacement but no permanent head coach/manager?

And that probably includes those supposedly in charge, by the looks of things.

Hope it works out well for him, must be strange for him when Kompany has left. That said he must have had some reassurances regarding his role here.

That sort of sums it up.

There's an interview on the club's site. He seems like a decent sort and keen to join.
Problem is that there's no stick to hit him (or the board) with so he's of no particular interest on here.

That’s not true at all and he’s been discussed on another thread. He’s in a strange position though having initially accepted the role as Kimpany’s assistant.

Somewhere on the next manager thread when his name was mentioned.

Nothing against Jensen, I know nothing about him but how this happens without a manager in place is beyond me. What’s going on?

This seems to be a confusing buggers muddle just before we appoint a new manager.

Doesn’t seem too confusing to me. We hire an assistant head coach, and then the head coach leaves.

Sounds like it's contractual. Jensen signs under VK, has to wait a few weeks for a work permit. By the time that comes through VK has gone. It is bizarre, in keeping with the the rest of the recruitment this last 12 months to be fair.

What if our new manager/head coach wants his own assistant? Does he just have to put up with the one we've already given him?

I presume the two options are that a new head coach has to work with Jensen, or we terminate Jensen’s contract. Or perhaps the new head coach will have two assistants.

No it’s not. I’m in my Seventies and watched Burnley and been interested in football for at least 6 decades and I’m struggling to remember this horse before the cart scenario

I don’t think it’s unheard of for a new head coach to work with a number two who’s already at the club.

Surely there have been Burnley managers over the years who haven’t brought their own assistant with them?

Steve Davis was retained when Coyle got the job, but as a coach, not as an assistant I think.

He brought in Sandy Stewart who is still working with him now in India.

Could we have 2 assistants. It wouldn't surprise me in this scenario. I think Everton might have something similar under Ancelotti

Didn't Barry Kilby offer a job to SD regardless of who got appointed as manager?

Last season kompany had Bellamy and Jackson on a similar level even thought Bellamy was by title assistant manager.
Bellamy involved with the attacking side
Jackson involved with the defensive side
Then there was also N'Galula Geers and creimers (I think that’s his name) who were also first team coaches and pretty involved. 2 of them have now gone to Bayern.
GK coach left
We still have the set piece coach here
But in theory a new manager/head coach still has 3 coaching spots to fill

Not as I’m aware but Coyle only brought Stewart with him and Dave Kevan left just before Steve Cotterill.
Since then,
Brian Laws brought in Russ Wilcox, Stuart Gray & Billy Mercer.
Eddie Howe brought in Jason Tindall & Simon Weatherstone
Sean Dyche brought in Ian Woan & Tony Loughlan
Vincent Kompany brought in Craig Bellamy and a few others

Do we know how many of the approx. 20 assistant managers/coaches/match analysts etc. have been retained following the departure of Kompany ?

Good appointment, he will know the Scandinavian market well. I'm not remotely bothered if he was Kompany's man or not.

Small error at the top Tony, should be from 2003.
Or until 2013

Jelle ten Rouwelaar left to go to Ajax while Bram Geers, Floribert Ngalula and Rodyse Munienge have gone with him to Bayern Munich.
Bellamy was on his way but quickly returned and I assume all the others are still here with Jensen now added.
