Leah Embley

Post by Fretters » Mon Jun 24, 2024 10:58 pm

Leaving the women's team and, based on her Instagram post, all does not sound well.

She'll be a big loss to the side. Didn't the top scorer suddenly leave too?

Yes it’s unexpected.

Reading between the lines the new manager has upset a few of the older players by bringing in so many new faces and probably not making them feel as valued as they were.

Big job to replace them now, they’d better have a plan if they ever want to get out of this league.

You could be reading too much into it

The “Not the fairytale ending” may just relate to them coming second and not getting promoted

Maybe she’s been given the opportunity to sign for a team in the National League

That's at least 3 of the best players (IMO) that have left and my daughters favourite players

Need to be careful what I say but everyone called it early in the season when she was bringing in 2-3 players a week

I was referring more to the bit about feeling valued again.

I dont see too much of the womens side other than what is on the socials but I'd noticed she was sat on the bench a lot more towards the end of the season so it was maybe coming. Its a shame, a decent footballer as shown with that solo goal at Telford this season, looked good ;) and was one of our own so was someone to look up to for any aspiring footballers in the town. A big loss

Yes, to be fair, there’s been a big uptick in quality under the new manager in my view, but that was well complimented by combining it with some of the best players from existing team.

It’s hard to say that they’ve really moved forward given they missed out on promotion again but there’s every chance next season would see them fall back having lost several of their best players. Will be interesting to see who they sign now.

It’ll most likely be disharmony on what the new girls are being paid and they are, which is fair enough.

If anyone had finished above Newcastle, the only professional team in the league, it would have been an amazing achievement.

We moved up a spot this season (3rd to 2nd) and finished above Forest who were champions in the previous season but it is going to be tough every season whilst there is only one spot to aim for.

My local side Reading has withdrawn their women's side from the Championship as a cost cutting exercise They are thinking of scapping their girls teams too.The EFL are letting them down in Readings efforts to get Dai the Death to sell up
Massive debts being called in 1st July with no sign of new owners.

Surprised they don’t allow some form of retrospective promotion from the other leagues to fill that gap or maybe they’ll increase promotion slots next year.

Assume they would give a relegated side a reprieve

its clear to see that the talent coming in is a step up over what we had previously, especially using the dual signing regulations.

There’s definitely something not quite right in the set up, that’s now Leah, Alethea Paul, Dom Cooper, Millie Ravenning and Evie Priestley all now departed recently…Millie especially always looked a step up from the division they were in…the new manager appears to have upset quite a few people including some opposition players/managers as well along the way…be interesting to see how the ladies go next season 🤔
