Big show of confidence in him. I wonder if the intention is to keep him around the first team this season to challenge the incoming Brazilian lad?

He certainly must be in the thinking then. Hope he can kick on as he’s had a fair bit of league experience now.

No idea about the level that Dodgson is at but I'd like to see us start to being through one or two more youth players into the first team every now and then. Hopefully he can be one of them.

If we sign the Brazilian left back and if he's any good I'd be happy with Dodgson as backup.
Sambo and Vitinho as right backs means the summer can be spent sorting the rest of the squad

He’d reached the point where he needed to step up from under-21 football which he has done with the loans. Of the three who went to Dundee in Jan, he was the one who played the most. Whatever happens to him now, he needs to be a first team footballer. Whether that’s another loan or not remains to be seen.

Clearly rated highly by whoever is making the decisions at Burnley with this new contract.

There's clearly a good, attacking left back in there and as said above he definitely impressed in the Scottish Prem at Dundee last season. Whether that translates as good enough for the English Championship remains to be seen, but the contract suggests somebody thinks maybe it does. Good luck and hope he gets a look in.
