I've twice worked on sites where a bloke has lost his life, One suicide the other a tragic accident.
The most horrendous aura spread across the site both times. All sent home except for anyone who may have witnessed anything and could help the investigation. Health and Safety legislation can be a ball ache at times BUT! It's there to try and eradicate this type of thing.
As said nobody should go to work and never come home. Awful news.

I didn't think it was a disrespectful comment I'd want to know say for example if it was a specific sort of machinery that caused the accident & I myself worked with that machinery. Finding information out like that can prove vital if you don't want to go the same way. Anyway it's not a thread for arguing it's tragic what's happened & Rip for the unfortunate person.

For a start it’s nothing to do with you or any of us - thought it was an awful thing to post.

How about wait until factual information comes out from the HSE, rather than speculation on a FOOTBALL messageboard

There will be many posters on here that are good friends and family of the person, nothing should be posted about what happened until a statement has been released and I actually think it would be better if folk didn't post it online anyway as its upsetting for those people.

Nothing awful about commenting on a newspaper report which is in the public domain in my opinion but if you disagree then that’s your prerogative.

Okay, we get it, SWC has made a pretty distasteful comment. But he's been pulled up on it now. Do we really need people to keep quoting it just to get their own take on how bad it is on the record?
Let's have a bit of respect eh for the poor guy who some posters on here might well know personally.

I don’t think SWC said anything wrong personally. Being distasteful is just a personal feeling and everybody’s different, so it’s tough to gauge. I get that people are ultra sensitive on these kind of topics, usually on more people’s behalf than they should be. It’s probably safe to say that everybody is extremely sorry for the loss of someone’s life, it’s horrible, but asking how it happened is normal as we all go to work, and it’s how we learn as a species.
Put hand in fire = burn. So we then teach kids to not put hands in fire. It’s how we teach people. It’s natural to be inquisitive.

Awful news, RIP to the poor gentleman involved and condolences to his family and friends.
Brings back sad memories of December 2008 when a man tragically lost his life and another was seriously injured in a crush accident at the firm I worked for at the time in Darwen.

I have just read a tribute to Dave on the police Facebook page.
He was about to get married in 20 days time.
Doesn't bare thinking about.
