I thought I would start another to see which is the best out there now the cap has come down 7%.

Is it time to fix again?

I think it is but if you're looking for a 2 year deal there aren't many around - Eon and OVO are offering them.

It has dropped 7% but it’s forecast to rise 10% in October when we all start putting our heating back on!

I have just fixed mine with Octopus, as said above, zero exit fee so sounds a no brainer. There's a calculator on money saving expert which is quite handy if anyone is unsure.

I'm with Octopus at the minute but the unit prices don't seem to have gone down and fixing for 12months adds another 60 quid to my bill.

Atm I am living most of the year here in the Philippines and although no electric is being used in my house in England I am still being charged about
60p a day for standing charge.

Yes we moved into a house that the previous owner had been using one company and didn’t like the company so we changed to another.

I am with Octopus and tried to switch my 12 month fixed tariff and start it again with Octopus but at current rates and been told there is a £75 exit fee for each utility

I was looking at my flexible Octopus rate today and we have decided we are going to move onto their fixed rate. Octopus estimates it might end up costing us an extra £6 above the current flexible rate for the year, which is nothing compared to what we could lose if the rates increase again in winter.

Already well in credit anyway, so the £6 is already paid up for peace of mind over another winter

I think it's just click on tariffs page. Should show 3 different tariff for you including the one you're already on.

I'm going to wait and see if the new government do anything to reduce these prices before I get fixed in.

Go to octopus.energy/dashboard/accounts/accountnumber/tariff-renewal/#/ , substituting accountnumber for your actual account number.

Get your DD down to what you need to pay. You can set it.

They just want the surplus in their account making plenty of interest for them.

Yep very good point, the fixed now brings us right down. Going to leave the extra money in there though as my Mrs is due to have our first baby in October, so it should cover the extra energy usage I anticipate us using over the winter

I’m trying to work out how the standing charge is up near 60p per day! Our 3 year fixed deal with EDF is coming to an end in September and the standing charge is 24p and the rate is 20p per kWh. We’ve just had a 4kW solar array fitted and a 5kW battery and our daily bill is down to just the standing charge now while it’s sunny - in fact even today it was still only about 30p for the whole day!

This term us generally used for cheap, actual solid products ie kettles, toasters etc.
Leccy and gas is all down to price, it won't stop working!
