Matchday ticket prices

Post by aggi » Wed Jul 10, 2024 11:30 am

Just looking at Blackburn tickets (there's not many left if looking for two or more together) and the prices:

(Can only upload three at once, the top price is the adult price)

Definitely some form of variable pricing as these are from the Coventry game later in the season:

The prices are getting ridiculous for Championship football.

From one of the cheaper clubs ticket wise, reflecting the area, we are now pushing towards one of the more expensive.

I can’t imagine there’ll be many more than a few hundred available each match? Unless we are crap, then everyone’s will be on the ticket exchange like last season.

It's now expensive if you don't have a season ticket.

The only way prices will now go down is if crowds drop .... which no one wants because that means we aren't doing well...

Exactly why i renewed in the end, i only need to use it 10 or so times and i break even vs matchday tickets

Plenty of season ticket holders won't care and take the 'i'm alright jack" attitude. Its pretty clear the way things are heading under Pace and co.

Wonderful. I'm not in thr country enough to get a season ticket so tend to watch each game live via a stream and then buy tickets as and when I can. I tend not to bother these days because of the price of a 1 off ticket.

They look roughly in keeping with Sheffield Wednesday's prices, where the top Adult price is £54 and the lowest is £30.

Imagine we'll provide better value for that money

Honestly, given you can pay by DD monthly interest free, what stops people doing that vs buying per game if they know they will likely make several games?

Between the games i get to, and mates or siblings using it if i cant, its a no brainer

Hello fellow Clarets...
when do tickets go on general sale?
I have to be selective on match day dates in my elderly years cos of health and travel issues. ( 3 hour round trip)
I used to just log on the BFC website, select tickets and buy one. No issues or problem.
I want to go to the Cardiff game ( may well be sold out) but no tickets info at all on club website for that or other matches.

They are on sale to the queue jumpers (members) now and to season ticket holders next week. Not sure when they go on general sale.

Thanks CT.
I understand priority to season ticket holders etc, no real problem with that.
It's just that the BFC website could be more informative...
Thx again.👍
Will just keep trying website.

There might be all kinds of reasons why people don't want or can't commit to a season ticket. Why is it acceptable to rip people off who can only make a handful of games a season?

Is it ripping off less committed fans, or rewarding loyal season ticket holders? I guess it depends on your perspective.

Why do you keep referring to members as queue jumpers Tony?
I personally find your term offensive, some people esp those who live a distance away find the membership scheme very good as season tickets would not be viable option.
I will continue to support the Clarets in the way that suits me best, and don’t like to be labelled a queue jumper.

I've never regretted buying fast track for an airport. Even if there isn't a sizeable queue when you get there, you've already had the peace of mind that you wont have a daft queue.

You also bypass loads of mofos who frankly don't know how to airport.

28 quid to get in and 180 quid for 14 fast track passes.

In the 90s you used to get 4 games free buying a ST.

Now a ST is about the cost of 10 games with 13 being free.

I say STs are expensive, so matchday prices must be outrageous.

Yes, totally agree.
I had a season ticket for 23 years since 1960, went to every single home game, not too many away tbh cos of work, costs and transport those days. Great euro games v Lausanne Sports, SV Hamburg, Eintracht Frankfurt and SCC Napoli
Life moves on, married, kids, moving jobs, homes and locations but always managed to get to The Turf as and when I could.
Now in my 70s , pensioner, health issues, 3 hour round trip to Burnley, I have to be selective in the match day dates .
So tbh, I cannot see why tickets can't go on general sale maybe a couple of days later than the 'privileged' dates.
They're many true Clarets like me in the same position I suspect.
I think the club who say they value the clubs history, should also value the historic loyal fanbase.
Just saying

How much revenue does match day ticket sales generate (season tickets, walk on's, corporate, everything)?

Please don't read this as me being an apologist for the pricing, but the prices are meant to be skewed heavily in favour of season tickets as guaranteed income is usually preferable to potential income. Back in the day the saving was about 4 games, now it's almost half the games.

So even though season tickets are relatively expensive, they now represent a far superior value for money purchase if you plan to attend around half the games. Allied with the selling back programme to get a bit back too.

The dad and two kids scenario - those season tickets on direct debit are going to be about £100 a month, which isn't nothing, but now going on a single game is going to cost £100, so the incentive is to buy the season ticket and sell back the tickets you don't use.

I think english football is too expensive anyway, especially for the money clubs get in the top division, but from a business POV trying to funnel customers into a particular spending direction isn't new or exclusive to americans or football clubs.

I wonder if the hospitality service will manage to provide a full cup of coffee this season?

Doesn't seem too off to call people who pay to jump a queue queue jumper to me. But then I'm not clear why anyone would take offence at it either.

Those prices are absolutely ridiculous. It's hopefully not a concern but it does feel to me like running through most decisions the club makes "what will happen to us if we settle back into being a Championship (or below) club without big prospects" is not a consideration.

That will be interesting.

Cardiff have offered a £20 reciprocal deal which would allow us to go there for a maximum of £20. I suspect we won’t accept that though although hope we do.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see us charge more than £30 for some games.

I've never regretted buying fast track for an airport. Even if there isn't a sizeable queue when you get there, you've already had the peace of mind that you wont have a daft queue.

You also bypass loads of mofos who frankly don't know how to airport.
Honestly, went through Manchester last week and there were more people waiting for the extra bag search than there were going straight through security. How long have we been doing the liquids/electronics thing now, about 25 years? So many bozos.
