It’s either £8 million rising to £10 million
Or
It’s £15 million
Depends who you believe
It’s interesting to see people say it’s not enough either way after watching the same people undervalue Trafford

He’s worth more than that, but you can’t blame him for the appalling way he was treated last season.

Not reporting back to training is a disgrace really and I’m glad he’s being sold.

He was great in the Championship and ok in the Premier League.
Muric improved us and the tail end of the season, but also cost us points with some very sloppy play.
£8-10m is on the cheap side, but if we’ve got nearer £15m per Nixon, I’d say that’s about right for a GK who excelled in a strong Championship side but is largely unproven at the top level.

Sad news. A great goalie and we might have managed a relegation battle if he'd be in the team for 38 games.
A fairly handsome profit though. That's what it's all about.

It hasn’t been reported and you wouldn’t expect it to be. That very definitely doesn’t mean it’s a made up story.

I will have to see who we replace him with before I decide how I feel about this.

We missed a trick with the Rotherham keeper he's fantastic and had a 1 million realse clause when relegated and Stoke snapped him up

Really bad business by the club.
A, for the fee
B, for allowing Muric to be isolated by Kompany.
I think it was 4 mill we paid, so it's a profit, but we are desperate for a decent keeper, and I wouldn't sell our best until his replacement was in the building.

Maybe he didn't return to training because initially he had an extended break due to international duty then knew the deal was going through so was told not to come back.

Just a thought.

I feel it is going to be a “Buyers Market “ especially as far as Burnley are concerned
Clubs know we have to sell players and they will make offer and if we turn it down will look elsewhere
The fees banded about on here are super optimistic imho

I’m interested in this too.
Were people thinking £15m+? 20m+? He’ll be 26 this year and the only full and impressive season he’s played anywhere was in the Championship over a year ago.
He may well have done better and been worth more if he’d been given the chance to start the season, so perhaps we’re at fault for devaluing him. However, we can’t change the past, so it’s hard to see how he’d be worth more than £10-15m right now.

Muric is a player I really like but let’s just get real here and look at the cold facts….
Some of which have been pointed out by ag, further up…
1) Muric is not the best shot stopper or claimed of crosses.
2) He has shown vulnerability in both the championship and Premier League, especially where getting down to shots at his feet are concerned.
3) His football massively suited a Kompany system: our manager is no longer Kompany.
4) We will make a good profit on a player who is already two years into his contract, having not played that much last year.
5) His distribution (for Kompany) was arguably world class.
6) less than 10 million is disappointing. 10-£15 million is perfectly reasonable for a keeper who isn’t fully proven at the top level.

We are looking at this as fans.
Muric is a player that won't be for everyone, including the manager. If that is the case then it could be best all round if he leaves.
I wanted him to stay but if the manager wants to start again in between the sticks, then selling both Muric and Trafford and getting his own man in makes sense.
We have a very bloated squad and tough decisions are needed, this may be the first of a long list, let's see what we have at the start of the season and more importantly at the beginning of September before passing judgement.
Anyway, thanks Aro.

We don’t have to sell
We have parachute payments
We will most likely have relegation clauses so wages aren’t a problem
He probably wants to go, that’s the only thing

We do have parachute payments but that doesn’t mean we don’t have to sell. You are obviously right though that he wants to go.

It’s a good price for an unproven GK, he had next to nothing to do in the championship season as we usually had 80% possession and dropped 2 absolute howling errors in the PL. Prior to that , a handful of games at Forest and loan spells in Europe.
Decent PL teams will target his vulnerability at that level with the ball at his feet.

Not necessarily mutually exclusive. My reading of it is £8m now. £2m guaranteed add ons. Up to £5m performance related add ons.

Not overly worried about losing Muric as long as we get a decent price. Will be interesting to see what happens with Trafford now.

It’s a shame because I like Muric but the transfer and fee is probably about right.
It’s a shame that Kompany’s appalling management of the squad has left us with some problems with discipline and attitude, but there we go. Hopefully Parker can improve things with the players who want to be at Burnley.
