He’s someone who we had probably all long forgotten - but he was right up there as the best at a time when snooker was gaining so much in terms of popularity.

I saw him once at Crawshawbooth Con club back in the 70's (when these lads charged reasonable fees).
A thoroughly entertaining evening with some great trick shots from a top bloke.

RIP Ray Reardon. Thoroughly enjoyed watching him on Pot Black and later the World Championships in the 1960s and 1970s when snooker and Ray were at their best.

One of the original greats of the game and always seemed like a thoroughly nice chap.
Remember him on TV one time giving some tips on how to improve your game and explaining his 'rectangle theory' for escaping from snookers which I often tried back in the day when I used to play a bit and quite often it would work.

Without thinking of any maths conundrums calculating points accrued matching how old he was. An outstanding snooker player who joins john spencer. RIP Ray.

RIP Mr Snooker. One of the all time greats,and a gentleman to boot. Was a regular in our front room in the 70’s and early 80’s.

Very good player (6 world titles) and a fine man RIP Ray Reardon.
He had an interesting life: he was trapped in a coal mine roof collapse when working as a miner pre-snooker days and later became a Stoke copper (and won a commendation for bravery in disarming a man). It also seems he was very well liked by his peers and later stars of the game.
Admirable man/sportsman.

Great player and clearly a respected one - did some coaching for Ronnie and helped get him back on track for his second world title win. RIP

Apparently if England can get to 400 in their second innings it will be the first time in their test history they will have scored 400 in both innings. Was it 1877 when they played their first test against Australia in Melbourne?

Ray's passing is like a stake in the heart of the snooker world. RIP to an early snooker superstar and lovely chap.

He played with a smile to the audience. He was also exceptional at his trade.

I saw the interview he did with Michael Parkinson over the weekend where he talked about being buried alive in a mine. Said he was stuck for three hours, not being able to move a muscle, before he was dug out. The only way he survived was by staying calm, not struggling and breathing through his nose.
