24/25 Season Tickets

Post by Fizzy » Sun Jul 21, 2024 8:45 am

Apologies if there's already a thread about this, but I've looked, and don't see one.

So, has anyone received their 24/25 Season Ticket yet?

I wouldn't say I'm starting to panic, but I'm starting to panic :(

They will probably leave it as late as possible. Last season there were a lot of people didn't receive them before the first home game.

Still 27 days to go.

I was fortunate that mine arrived but a few of my friends had to go queuing.

Still can’t get my head around them having to replace the cards
Unless there’s been a change in seat or category then there’s really no need to

Always thought that was one of the extra advantages with the card system. But we are now changing them every year.

Why do you feel like that?

I felt a massive disconnect with the club last season but that seemed to stem from VK and his arrogance more than anything.

The season before I had never felt closer to the club as a fan.

Just missing a few wins - once you’re celebrating goals back on the Turf it will all come flooding back 👍🏻

And I’ve just realised that the syllables in Scott Parker’s name fit perfectly in the Jimmy Mullen chant - #scottparkersclaretbluearmy - so another reason to be cheerful

To me its starting to feel like us fans are an inconvenience unless they need money out of us. I get thats the way footy has been heading for a while it just seems a bit more blatant now the new regime are settled in.

Apologies, I’ve only just logged in and seen this response.

I think there is a hangover from last season that has made fans feel like this.

I felt very much disconnected from the club last season for a variety of reasons.

I do, though, feel as though AP is learning from his mistakes with being so open with the fanbase. The MTB docu-series was a real eye opener for me after such an amazing season last time we were in the Championship.

Sorry, I must've missed this. What has AP been open about with the fan base?

I find his communication terrible on the whole.

I've seen people saying they felt disconnected last season, whatever that means, but in reality what changed at the club from the previous season, other than results on the pitch.
So if we win the league this season, will people feel connected with the club once again?

I think the general disconnection with the squad last season was because of poor team selection rather than results - a discussion that has been done to death.

If you think that having a connection with the players and club is results based, you must be a new fan.

As someone that is your average fan - no connection to supporters clubs, or groups that have worked closely with the club historically - I found the communication from the previous owners terrible too - especially in the later years.

Show me an owner at PL/Championship level that is a shining example of an owner though if what we get isn't the norm in terms of openness from an owner? I just presumed the lack of communication these days was the norm.

I also think AP quickly found how brutal fans can be and have shut up shop since getting dogs abuse over the years by some fans.

And the high turnover of player - if we had kept the championship winning team mainly together - I think the team and crowd connection would have been better but new players out of their depth, strange selections etc - all contributed as you said.

I can guarantee that if we were banging goals in, winning most games and pushing for Europe last season, there wouldn’t be a single fan saying they felt ‘disconnected’.

We’d all love the new players and be feeling the most ‘connected’ we’ve ever been. Likewise if we win the first 10 games of this season I very much doubt we’ll see fans complaining of these issues.

Fans are fickle, unfortunately, and that’s just about the top and bottom of it.

Just don’t believe this in the slightest.

If had spent nothing and spent the season were watching Benson & Zaroury get eased off the ball time after time, Cullen bullied, Cork struggling to cover the ground and Barnes battling away heroically bit struggling to trouble any keeper, there would’ve been a rage on here beyond anything we saw in the Trafford v Muric debate.

Everyone would be calling Pace for not investing and blowing the chance of retaining premier league status.

I'm not disagreeing with the fact new players were needed. I was never one of the fans who believed that we would have done better with that squad.

I thought the comment was more about fans feeling disconnected with the team last season - my comment was not about whether the turnover was needed (which I think some of it was indeed).

Because this forum, similar to (al)most all others, has a number of posters who could find an argument whilst marooned on a deserted island

To be honest, I just don’t agree that the feeling of ‘disconnection’ is anything other than frustration at losing. This isn’t directed at your post, just the argument in general that I think is flawed.

My simple question is: had the very same team achieved Europe last season, would there be a single fan complaining that they felt disconnected to the team? I’d bet not. And generally I don’t think that argument properly considers the alternative scenario which is the absolute pelters the owners would’ve got had they not invested, albeit I accept the team maybe got more support even if struggling.

The issue is when you’re fighting relegation and generally rubbish is that you don’t get the opportunity to form said connection between a new team and fans. And for that reason I think it’s so important that we keep the majority of our premier league stars this season, however much they (or their agents) may prefer a move.

Often the fans saying they’re ’disconnected’ are the ones saying we should sell these players for the right price, but then you have to repeat the same process of buying new when promoted again. And what chance of better success next time around? I think we have to break the cycle somehow. Albeit Trafford, Tresor, etc may be the ones we’ve decided are up to this level.

I think the issue here is that I think both points can be true.

My simple answer is that there would not be any single fan saying that. However, it all comes down to how much "credit in the bank" has been achieved by the players with the fans. A season that was this successful, clearly, even the players who had "a zero balance" at the start of the season, would have built up this credit.

I believe this to be true and why I think both points are right. If players aren't building credit with good performances then how can a fan feel connected to the player/team. Its all connected in a way.

For the record, I believe we should be keeping as many of the players as we can too. I think there will be challenges with such a big squad that needs looking at - but we need to build a squad that doesn't need a massive overhaul next season if we are promoted.

I think one of the big problems last season was that after 5 or 6 games most fans new we were struggling to compete and I think the players also realised it too so the players were unable to lift the fans and vice versa ,the promotion winning season we started off slowly but the fans could see that would could play a bit and we fed off each other, the first half a dozen games are critical and we both the fans and the players need something to hang our hats on.

I've merged your post with the existing thread - info above on when they might be sent out

Has anyone received their new season ticket yet or, if not, know when they are being sent out?

Can’t we use last seasons cards…was hoping to pass them on for the Cardiff game as I’m away?

Apparently you will be able to have your ST on your phone and it will be easy to send individual games to a mate.
