Gut feeling

Post by AGENT_CLARET » Fri Jul 26, 2024 2:55 pm

Where do you think we'll end the season

A - Top Two

B - Top Six

C - Mid Table

D - Relegation Zone

It's A for me

Heart says (A)

Head says (B)

(C) or (D) would be a significant failure, imo.

A I have to say that as I predicted we would break the points record if we went down again, not sure I am as confident as I was but still think we will be top 2.

So many unknown variables to contend with!

I'll plump for "A" - Top two.

A. We’ve got a big budget and decent squad (even if we sell a few) compared to the rest of the league.

You know how they say “there’s no easy games” in the Premier League, well there’s quite a few in the Championship. Some dreadful sides.

Although that is based on the current squad. If we lose a few key players like Berge, O'Shea and Odobert then B/C.

As it stands now - A. We have the best squad in the division, on paper at least, by a country mile!

Of course, to use a commonly used American phrase, "That, and 10 bucks, gets you a coffee."

Lack of experience? Not sure about that at all. As things stand, we still have Roberts, Vitinho, Beyer, Ekdal, Al Dakhil, Brownhill, Cullen, JBG, Benson, Zaroury, Foster and Rodriguez from the last promotion season. Then there's Berge, Redmond and O'Shea who've played plenty at this level and above and also the goalkeeper who played every game for Ipswich last season. Not exactly inexperienced

Ask was gut feel.... my gut feel is many of the important ones there won't be at the club at the start of the season, and we'll be light on experience in the starting xi.

We haven't lost in a playoff final yet, but you should speak to someone who has.

Just want to qualify this. I feel that our current squad has some very good players and they certainly are capable of storming this league. My fear is that unless they come out of the blocks firing on all cylinders they’ll feel the pressures of expectation, not just from us the fans, but also the media spotlight.

We could well start great under the new head coach (and I truly hope we do) but I’m not holding my breath on that.

It’s hard to call due to the managers impact being unknown. The squad as it stands should be comfortably (A)

If we lose key players or the manager struggles then it could be b or c.

B / C

We have some very good players at this level, we also have quite a few who may or may not prove to be very good players at this level. I think a few may be over egging the quality that we actually have (hopefully I’ll be proved wrong).

We also have a manager that I remain to be convinced about. Two promotions yes, neither of which were entirely convincing considering the players at his disposal at Fulham and Bournemouth.

The ins, as much as the outs, before the window closes will, may further alter my view.

If players like Amdouni, Tresor and Delcroix leave I think we'll either be top 2 or Play Offs. If they stay we will be disappointed sadly because they are sh**e and will wreck our season.
Delighted Kompany had gone. My slogan is 'I want my team back'

Let's get rid of the narcissistic 'dead weight' that VK naivety lumbered us with (and Pace has to take some responsibility) ..and there's probably half a dozen players in that category....if we can get rid of those without financial loss, rely on existing quality players to push us forward, its almost certainly an A, anything outside of B would be complete failure.

Too many variables need to come together quickly for A.

I think B is most likely scenario.

All depends on who we don't sell.

A. Anything less than a B, with this squad, would be one of the biggest underperformances ever in this league. Hopefully we can keep some of our better players like Amdouni etc.

Current squad - A

Not sure how it wouldn’t get promoted, that’s not intended to be arrogant but look at it and its depth. It all comes down to keeping Berge/Cullen/Brownhill as a midfield trio. They would pretty much guarantee us dominating with 70% possession at this level in the vast majority of games. Eventually the wingers/strikers would break a team down just due to that level of endless possession.

B possibly C.
Last season was an absolute disaster and will take a lot out of many players.
Scott will have a massive job on his hands trying to re connect quite a few players, never mind getting them to gel as a team and then performing to their best abilities.
