I’ve just been searching through some on demand stuff and noticed that series 2 starts this Friday. They’ve kept that fairly under the radar at least to me, it may be common knowledge..

I don’t remember anything about the first series, it was utterly forgettable.
These shows are generally crap, the only one that was any good was the Sunderland one, and that’s because they were in a complete mess and run by jokers who had no idea what they were doing.

But the editing was absolutely shocking on the Sunderland one. Would show them scoring away at Derby and Chris Coleman and the players celebrating at Stadium of Light.

I remember bits of it, notably the contrast between how VK presented himself generally and a scene in the dressing room where he was frequently swearing. And also how Pace and Co seemed to be in awe of him.

Brilliant, that’s next Friday night sorted. Will watch them all back to back again probably.
No doubt timed to coincide with the new season start.

Enjoyed the first one personally. Gave an insight into some aspects of the club you don’t usually see. Pace’s reaction when we were relegated was memorable for me. The search for a new manager was also interesting along with the board members quizzing VK.

I’ve spent the summer trying to expunge last season from my memory! Think I’ll give it a miss and watch season one again instead.

The editing on mission to Burnley wasn’t great, it showed kompany talking to the players about the transfer embargo in march, camera then changed to the players and you could see will Norris and Luke mcnally who were both on loans away from the club

Something I'd not seen because I leave at the final whistle was Pace and his directors walking across the pitch taking the applause from the crowd and then standing outside the dressing room like naughty schoolboys waiting to be called in by the headmaster. Pace always looked to be in complete awe of him and that's how I reckon he got away with so much.

These new episodes are considered Season 2 rather then Mission to Burnley 2. There are four new ones:
1. Return to the Promised Land
2. A Need to Believe
3. In Search of a Miracle
4. Paradise Lost
The titles tell it all!
They will be shown at 0200 and 2200 on 9th, and about 2300 on the 12th, 13th and 14th respectively on Sky channels Football and Arena.
The original four episodes are being repeated on the Sky Football around 2200 on the 5th, 6th 7th and 8th.

I've been relooking at the original Mission to Burnley series. It's worth watching just to remind us what an extraordinary season that was - a remarkable and impressive start at Huddersfield, teething troubles early on, finally getting some good results then going on a ten consecutive win run (and how emotional was that late Twine winner against WBA) as well as the hiccupping FA Cup run and crashing out inevitably to M City. I'm still to watch the last episode.

Going to be a much harder watch than series 1 for obvious reasons but I'm hoping at least to get some answers and insight as to the reasons, along with due apportionment of blame. Though I suspect I may be disappointed....

this was another thing that Matt Williams alluded to when he was with the London Clarets recently - noting that at some away games there appeared to be at least as many backroom staff present in 'team Kompany' as squad members. The new structure of coaching etc is aimed at restricting to present a future mass migration if the head coach (no more managers) moves on.

Is this the Matt Williams who said Kompany was the best thing to happen to Burnley Football Club?

I would say that there is context in the time Matt Williams said in that now infamous quote - there appears to have been quite the rethink in the boardroom since late Feb/March this year

Some really fascinating comments - this and the Trafford point (although I would seriously question a strategy that involves us spending £14m on a back up keeper).
Do we know when London Clarets might update us on this meeting?
Although it’d be nice to hear from Alan and Matt on recent events before the season starts, if only to put last season (and the obvious mistakes) behind us… although maybe the plan is for MtB2 to do that.

I don’t think we should berate Williams and Pace for their comments about Kompany.
Pace’s were made at a time we were storming the league and likely expecting summer interest/discussing a new contract - thus exactly what he should’ve been saying at the time.
Williams’ were a tad stranger in terms of timing, but again being negative about your manager serves no purpose. Backing them and being super positive is exactly what you should do.
I’d expect they’ll do the same with Parker. They already are really, alluding to the new super happy squad, etc. Again, what they should be doing because you need your manager (or head coach) to feel supported and happy to get the best out of your players.

I expect that was why RVN was ruled out pretty early - wanted to bring his own team.

I would be a little cautious about what was said - the club underperformed on its strategy last season and Kompany leaving the way he did, makes it easier for them to put a nod in a certain direction, Matt is a very capable operator and will be fully aware of how what he says will be taken

Agree entirely. It’s very easy to blame the departed for everything.
Has happened in every single role I’ve ever had. I always say “you can blame me for everything that goes wrong now” when I leave somewhere… generally I’m only to blame for 75% of it

But it was during last season when he told Dion Dublin on Football Focus that you only need to meet Vincent once and you fall in love with him.

My point was more that I’d expect our ownership to be saying positive things about the manager right up to the point they decide to sack him.
They did the same with Dyche: “We love Sean, if it were up to us he’d sign a 10 year contract”.
I expect they’ll rave about Parker using different phrases and things that play to his ego (which all successful people have).

Per above, they did the same for Dyche, declaring their love and saying they would give him a 10 year contract if he’d sign it. All just how they manage successful people with big egos.

I don’t recall him ever talking about Dyche in anything like the way he spoke about Kompany. Dublin looked stunned when he gave that answer.

"We love Sean to death. We want Sean to be here for a long time," said Pace. "If it was up to me I'd write a contract for 10 years, I don't have a problem.”
So he “loved” them both. If anything, I’d say his words about Dyche (loving him to death/10 yr contract) are more over the top comments than “most beautiful girl in the village” comments.
Interestingly one was an arranged marriage and one was maybe his first girlfriend after that. I don’t expect him to be telling Football Focus that Parker is his rebound and he’s still heartbroken deep down - he’ll be blowing similar smoke circles about him soon enough too.

I commented several times last season on the mistakes I think were made: not playing Muric being the main one Inranted about, but also making a has at our recruitment - most specifically not adding some experience to the squad.
Weird that you remember what I posted though. I don’t remember anything you said at all.

From the trailer you can 100% see why JBG wanted to leave, looks like he took a bollocking from kompany. Foster features in the trailer arguing to, can’t beat abit of passion.
Overall looks like a lot of unrest

Given that Kpmpany ended up leaving us to go to Bayern Munich I think Pace was pretty accurate with that most beautiful girl in town analogy. It was a bit cringey but it was very prophetic.
