Now TV
I left Sky a few months ago, so looking into signing up to the Now TV sports package for a month to try it out.
For those who use it, what are your thoughts - is it a buffer-less stream with good quality picture?
And does it include Sky Sports+ ?

Excellent, thank you.

It's very good, there is a bit of a time lag,so I could get notifications of a goal before it happens on TV,but that apart there is no buffering etc

Can you get sky red button on NOW TV? Wondering what the best way to watch all these championship matches on red button this season without getting the full sky package.

Already got one. I've tried several and they all buffer to a certain extent. BT Sport seems to buffer less than Sky Sports for some reason.

Assuming it stays the same as two years ago, the red button games appear about 15 minutes before kick off, so you don't actually press the red button, you just click the picture of the game you want to watch.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 9:05 amCan you get sky red button on NOW TV? Thanks distortiondave. Good to know. We already subscribe to Now TV but don't have the sports package. Could be a quick win for me until I figure out the best solution for the season. Not sure Miss AD will appreciate the amount of games I can watch thoughdistortiondave wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 9:43 amAssuming it stays the same as two years ago, the red button games appear about 15 minutes before kick off, so you don't actually press the red button, you just click the picture of the game you want to watch.

There is no red button now for the Football League. Re: Now TV
Can you 'record' games on Now TV, or live pause them? The reason I ask is it's the kids' bedtimes around 8ish, so if I'm watching a game on TV, I record it - or pause it at 8ish - and watch it from the start at around 8:30. Is this possible with Now TV?

Re: Now TV
I have used NOW for Sky Sports for a few years and it has been great.
Some red button games used to be shown as bonus streams on the main menu but didn't show up on the sports menu.
I haven't been able to record but as above there now (!) seems to be a recording box available. If you purchase NOW through BT you might be able to record using there latest recording box, but not sure.
You get good offers made if you go through the cancellation process and if you pay for "Boost" you get HD and 3 licences so you can share the cost.

Re: Now TV
I switched to it about 3 or 4 months ago. Sky were putting their prices up again and wanted about £84 pm. I had one box no multi room, entertainment channels with Netflix (already had Netflix and kept the account having left sky) and sky sports. Once I’d cancelled they were offering all sorts of discounts but none could match NowTV for price and I was sick of them always looking for ways to put creep the price up. So now I pay about £26 per month for NowTV and £10pm for Netflix. All I’m missing out on is the basic entertainment channels sky have but I’m not really interested in them and the only one I miss slightly is sky Atlantic.
So far NowTV seems brilliant. I’ve only had one issue with it one weekend where it wouldn’t play on the TV and it seemed to be an issue they were having everywhere. It still played on the iPad though as a backup.
I don’t think anything is missing from the sky sports package and the quality is very good. No buffering or anything.
I’d highly recommend it.

Re: Now TV
I took out a special offer last August at £19.99 per month.
This has just expired and the fee is now £23.99 per month. I also pay for
"Ultra Boost" at £6 per month which provides 4K Ultra HD HDR. As for recording
the content, I've never tried it but I will look into it.
They have a very good help desk and I'm sure they will help with any enquiries.
The service is excellent and this coming season promises to be even better.
One big advantage is that you can cancel anytime with only 1 month's notice.
Go for it, you won't regret it.

That's good, it's £26 a month now for sports, but only if you lock in for 6 months. It's £34.99 a month after that but you can cancel any time.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 12:02 pmI took out a special offer last August at £19.99 per month.

Re: Now TV
I've just signed in to Now TV and they've offered me £26 for 12 months. But if I sign up to ultra boost for £9 more, I can share my login with two others and it would cost each of us £11.66 a month. That isn't far off what folk pay for a dodgy stick, but without the buffering or searching for a steam.
If anyone on here is interested in that, let me know.

Re: Now TV
I was reading up what I could find on this and it seems to be that you can only record the linear game being shown.
So, for example, there are eight Championship games kicking off at 12:30 this Saturday.
Oxford v Norwich is on Sky Sports Football
Leeds v Portsmouth is the linear game on Sky Sports +
These will be recordable but not the other six - that's how I've read it. The test will come on Saturday.

Although I don't have a Sky account any longer, I do pay them £10 for the recording facility on my HD box.
So I have freeview + record option. I guess I could buy a freeview box and probably save overall.

I watched the Preston v Sheff U on a friends firestick last night but the stream was like the iFollow screening with the home side’s commentary. Did anybody watch it on the Sky Sports + and who did the commentating? Was it the same commentary? Reason I ask is I have been offered a deal on Now but I don’t want to watch the games on Sky Sports + if it’s the home commentary and not neutral.

I'm currently watching Oxford v Norwich and I can pause and rewind
