Didn't think he did too badly for us but seeing the standard of where he's heading maybe he wasn't quite up to the standard of those performances I saw consistently.

Bastien is technically a very good footballer. Just lacked a yard of pace and really struggled to move the ball quickly in comparison to his teammates. I wish him well.

Not a bad player by any means but just nowhere near the quality of those around him whilst he was here (Cullen, Brownhill, Cork in the promotion season).

Good luck to him, I think he was relatively cheap and he ‘did a job’ that season.

I'm not that familiar with Dutch domestic footy but- looking at some info:
They finished 10th/18 (11th, 15rth and 13th previous 3 seasons - so not too bad relatively). I note though that their last six games were L 3, D 3.

Good luck to him there anyway and the wage bill down some for us.

A decent signing who played a valuable role for us 2 seasons ago and more than justified his modest price tag, but whilst he might have been good back up this season he probably wasn't quite good enough to be a regular in an upwardly mobile championship team and he was essentially superseded by Massengo in the squad role. Good move therefore for all concerned and good luck to him.

Cost very little in terms of transfer fee (was it a free or £500k ?) but in the various reports and rumours on our wages in that first season Bastien was one of the highest paid of the new recruits. Think it was listed as £15k a week in the championship season.

I always thought he looked ok for us and showed a good attitude on the pitch but after those first 2 or 3 months he seemed to be way down the pecking order.

Perhaps I saw a different player to everyone else.

I was excited we'd signed him but just felt he was disappointing in almost every game I saw except for the Shrewsbury game.

Modest outlay. No criticism. Just one of those that I think is correct to move on.

I liked him and saw the potential, wish him well.

It was just a case for me that when he got on the ball... he made the wrong choices more than others and it never really improved.

Bastien becomes to 2nd ex-Claret to play for Fortuna Sittard, following Phil Gray

What I liked about him during the Championship winning season under VK, was the way he was always congratulating and encouraging Burnley players as they were coming off the pitch. Thats quite admirable when you consider the game time he got

Nice bloke. His parents were nice people too. They were at the Shrewsbury preseason and chatting with everyone.
