If he WANTS to wear our shirt, then he’s very welcome in our side. He has terrific attributes.

No doubting his abilities, but is he prepared to get down and dirty in the Championship in the depths of winter?

Hope so, we'd have a hell of a player.

If he’s up for it then I’m all for it - and that beaming smile at the end and celebrations showed that he is.

He seemed to be encouraging Parker to do the fist bump at the end with the fans! Fair play to Parker if he has managed to convince him to stick around. Genuinely wasn’t expecting him to ever play for Burnley again.

Worked very hard when he came on, even though it was 4-1

I'm not saying he'd be 'the difference' but I'd be a hell of a lot more certain we will win the league if we can keep that squad from tonight.
Crazy to think we've still good players to come back.

Last year of contract. Probably happy to run it down, if we are happy to let him. Can make plans with Ajax for next season and World Cup.

I think how he left Garstang time was badly managed and some of it lost in the translation. In fairness to him Dyche just wanted a target man for flick ons he's far better than that.

Great if he stays. If we need to raise money then fair enough.

As many others keep saying, he was given a contract that allowed him to leave if we got relegated.
And that’s what happened.

Not sure why some fans still don’t get that.

In this league, he's clearly got the tools to make the opposition miserable.

That said he isn't going to be here next season, and he's behind Foster, so if the chance to make some money on him does arise we should still be taking it imo.

Easy to be smiles and huge when we're 4-1 up away and the transfer window is open. We know how quickly his mood can turn.
Would be great if he decided to pitch in and give one last effort but I'd rather free up the wages and not take the risk of having a passenger in the squad damaging moral if he decided to down tools.

Fair play to Parker for including him. He’d certainly be an asset if he’s up for it. Just can’t see him staying though. Great to see Anass and McNally involved too.

To be fair it was a big step up from Garstang FC. At least you get a breather when the ball goes in the River Wyre.

Didn't want to play for us when first relegated. Why should he be playing for us now? I'd have brought jrod on. Anyone who refuses to be a claret doesn't deserve to play.

We had Hountondji and Jay on the bench as well as Weghorst. Parker chose to bring Weghorst in ahead of the pair of them…why would he do that if a move was imminent and he wasn’t planning on keeping him around? His first game time since the Euros to get him some match fitness. At 4-1 the natural change to rest Foster would have been Hountondji to give him his first taste of English football in a less pressurised phase of a game.

Perhaps Wout is staying .

At this level I have no doubt he could destroy it.

Questions over his attitude! We all remember the Watford palava, kicking off at the sub then sulking even refusing to congratulate his teammates at full-time.

Then to top it off refusing to play in the Championship, claiming the 2nd tier in England was beneath him.

No question he's got alot to make up to Burnley fans.
I've seen fans turn sour to players earning peanuts compared to him for far less. This guy has got alot to do to win Burnley fans over, especially with 40k a week wages (after tax!)

Firstly, you need to look at the context around the time he 'didn't want to play for us'.
I'm neither for nor against Weghorst, but I do know he's a very decent player.

If Parker has talked him round, then well done.

Weggy will be off shortly but credit for turning out today after no game time since England in the semi.

I still think he wanted to stay last year but lets be frank, if Vinny cannot handle JBG then Wout is well out of his league, as tricky a character as it gets - he will have told him to move on I predict, so I hold no grudges against Wout.

He is about to have a 4th child and wants to settle in one place - logic suggests it will be back home. I heard his missus doesn’t fancy Turkey if it isn’t Istanbul.

We still need players out of the door. Don't really see the point in keeping him around when there's zero chance he'll be here next season.

He never claimed second tier was beneath him. He made it clear when he joined the club that he wouldn't play in the Championship, as he was told to be eligible for selection for the Dutch national team he'd need to be playing in a top league. Can't blame him for a wanting to represent his country.

That’s just not true, nor did he “refuse” to play, as we all know, he had an agreement that he could go on loan to a top division team to ensure his selection for the World Cup.

Not bad being able to bring a Dutch international off the bench to run down the game. That fact that he played indicates there is a very good chance he’ll be here for the rest of the season for me. Hope he gets on board and has settled his differences with Roberts 😂

Firstly, I don't care about the context. Secondly, he's been tarted around and would have jumped ship happily if someone had bought him. Thirdly, if he's such a decent player, why haven't someone bought him. He's hardly got a prolific scoring record.
Finally, I rather have a player who wants to play for Burnley at all times, not just when it suits them.

Surprised Dyche would sign a player like that, especially after what he went through with Gibson. Unless Dyche was 100% confident we would stay up? Which even he wouldn't take that gamble? Always looked after the club first.

Think it was the start of the Americans signing players and not dyche. Cornet and wout are as far from dyche signings as possible in the past

You clearly have an agenda with the bloke - which is fair enough - I fully understand your opinion. No point trying to find common ground here.
However, he is a decent player. And that is a fact.

Parker playing Weghorst tonight was a good move in my opinion. Let's see how it plays out ...

I stand by my point that the sensible thing to do it Weghorst was leaving , would have been to bed the new lad in whilst 3 goals ahead with 10 mins to play.

With the runners we have from midfield, he might have a part to play this season with his hold up and link play. It’s needs the front man to be tidy and have the likes of Odobert running past him.

Wout gives us something different we don't have, which could be really important for teams that camp in their own penalty area. It is important to have the right tools to unlock every defence, especially now we have a manager who believes in different tactics for different games.
