Does anyone know anything about the lad?
Here's the google translation of the article:
The 19-year-old striker, who was at Barcelona's academy, signs a professional contract with the English club until 2026

After a spell at Barcelona's academy, João Mendes, son of Ronaldinho Gaúcho, signed a contract this Wednesday with Burnley, in England's second division.
João Mendes, 19, arrived in the United Kingdom at the beginning of the week, underwent medical examinations and signed until 2026 with the two-time English champion team. The negotiation was brokered by agents Marcelo Sander and Marcelo Marchese.

The striker should be available to coach Scott Parker from next week. Unlike his father, João is left-handed and plays on the wing.
João Mendes began his playing career at Cruzeiro's academy, where he played for four seasons. In 2023, taken by Ronaldinho, he underwent tests at Barcelona and, after passing, signed a contract with the Catalan club's under-19s. He stayed in Catalonia until the end of June of that year, when the contract was terminated.

The young man is the result of Ronaldinho Gaúcho's relationship with Janaína Natielle Mendes, a former dancer. At the time of the test at Toca da Raposa, the mother was one of those responsible for the decision to take the boy to Cruzeiro's youth categories.

João arrived at Toca da Raposa in May 2018, when he was 13 years old. The following year, when he turned 14, the young man signed an agreement with Raposa to train in the under-14 category. The player participated in Raposa's youth competitions and also won titles in the categories he participated in.

There was a time that I didn’t ever imagine we would have 3 players who could afford to visit Brazil.
This club has changed…!

If they do a reveal video and it isn’t the Nike Brazil airport advert then there needs to be questions asked.

People will say HE'S not Ronaldinho, who was of course and absolute God on the pitch, but his pedigree must be very high with his dad being Ronaldinho.
Worthy of pointing out also.... He has been at Barca, and there are quotes from their president saying that wanted to retain him on a pro contract.
Little known about the player but 3 Brazilians in the squad.... Wow. UTC.

I can vaguely remember us in a yellow away kit in the 80’s with the crowd singing “ it’s just like watching Brazil”
Now, 40 odd years later, it actually is!!

He mainly played as a forward or on the wing where he was absolutely dreadful but more recently, he's been converted to a left-back where he has looked a lot better...
He will probably end up staying in that position or maybe as a CDM but he certainly doesn't have the talent to be playing further up the pitch and if it wasn't for his heritage and relation to Ronaldinho then he wouldn't even be on the radar as he doesn't look to have the attributes to succeed at the higher level...
He's only 19 though so still young enough to surprise in his development.

Is Vitinho the link with the lad? Possibly crossed paths at Cruzeiro Esporte Clube.
Plus with Firmino wearing the Burnley shirt over summer and reports that they were friends, maybe Vitinho is one of those players that other players know and like (from Brazil).
It's crazy we have signed Ronaldinho's son, it would be even crazier if he's good.

Parker: Gor blimey govnor. Got any big red?
Mendes: O que?
Parker: Big red. Y'know. Big red
tomatah.
Mendes: Eu não entendo.
Parker: Gor blimey. Bloody norah. It's basic rhyming slang innit. Big red tomatah. Pastel de nata.

He's always an enthusiastic drummer in his spare time.
So Equity are asking questions.
We could have samba in the BL before seasons end.
