Footballers who turned out better than their dads

Literally zero chance our new signing is going to be better than his dad but who are the ones that turned out to be better ?

I’ll start with Frank Lampard, although Frank Senior wasn’t a bad player at all, 551 caps for West Ham and 2 caps for England.

We can also mention the ones who wasn’t a patch on there fathers.

I’ll start with Tom Ince who wasn’t on Paul’s level.

Also Alex Bruce only made a career because of his father Steve. He was pants.

I would suspect when dads and lads have both played, it is more likely that the dads were best although I'll now come up with examples that prove my theory wrong such as Jack Cork.

A few who have played at Burnley whose dads or lads also played football.

Mick Docherty (dad Tommy)
Jack Cork (dad Alan)
Brian Miller (lad David)
Paul Barnes (lad Harvey)
Colin Morris (lad Lee)
Derek Scott (lads Chris & Paul)
Andrew Cole (lad Devante)
Wayne Biggins (lad Harrison)
Andy Todd (dad Colin)
Mike Summerbee (lad Nicky)
Adrian Randall (lad Joel)
Andy Gray (dad Frank, lad Archie)
Walter Joyce (lad Warren)

Not me. My dad says he was top drawer. After a few beers he was a cross between Pele, Busquets and Schmeichel

Paolo Maldini was better than his father, Cesare, although the latter was no slouch, winning the EC and four Serie A scudetti. Paolo was also better than his two sons.

I'm not sure Ray Clemence, Nobby Stiles or Peter Schmeichel are worse than their sons, unless I've missed a UNO switcheroo somewhere on the thread.

Michael Owen and Chris Sutton - think I'm right in saying their respective dads played in the same Carlisle team in the 1970s

Ian Walker had a more illustrious playing career than his dad Mike - who was contender for the manager's job here at one point if I remember correctly

I thought 'what are you on about?', but you're right, the question in the title is different to the one in the topic, and the one in the topic is asking the opposite of the one in the title?
So, lets just name good footballers? Bonus point if they've a father or child.
