No pies left BEFORE the game.

In the Jimmy Mac lower. I noticed all the ovens were empty at 2:50 but thought they must be somewhere else keeping warm for half time. So, I tried to pre-order one and it confirmed there was no hot food available.

Was this the case in the other stands? Surely it must have been a supply issue rather than the catering staff misjudging demand.

JHU: Lad next to me had a Chicken Balti but it looked like it was left over from last season TBH.

That's a result remember the lad next to us yesterday? You could have done someone serious harm if you had thrown his thrice cooked pie at someone

At £4.50 for a pie I doubt that they had sold out before ko

They were available at HT in the JMU as I saw some being bought

I had a pie on turf yesterday as no lunch.

Just my 2ps worth, loads of filling and not just 2 bits of spud and hot gravy which was refreshing.

But... tasted of nothing.
Bot sure who made it. Who supply's them now. But needs salt and pepper and maybe sauce to taste.

Shite.

No cheap either.

It would have been a shock for the catering manager - who would have thought that hot food would be required at half time.
People will be wanting hot drinks next.
As good as we get on the field, we get more shambolic off it

Jhl yesterday I wanted a bottle of water for my daughter but it said sold out at the payment machine. I got two bottles of coke instead only to get to the bar and saw a fridge full of water! He let me swap one of the drinks which meant that I probably overpaid for a water. It’s just basic stuff this it isn’t difficult.

I went to the bar in the Jimmy mac lower around 2:30, and about 4 staff stood behind the bar doing nothing and no queue at all so thought happy days, went to the bar to buy x3 pints but was told I had to order them from the touch screen on the opposite corner, I said you have 4 behind the bar and no one waiting she said I still had to order them at the touch screen, I walked away and kept the £18 in my pocket

The queues were that long at the JHL ( zero pre pouring is almost insanity in a 15 min window ) was as predicted, dire . Gets the 3 pints and they only had 1 of the 3 pies ordered ! Had to get them from the food/soft drink one which by then was empty as we were back out! . Pints were downed in 1 and back out we trundled .

I've never been in that stand before, the cricket field stand wasn't like that, I understand it maybe if it was busy but no queue x4 staff stood around can't understood why I need to go to two different places to buy something

Got a Haffners peas and gravy from the fanzone and brought it in and had it in my seat. Superb. No idea if that is allowed but the steward didnt stop me.

Disappointing still no IPA in the ground though to wash it down.

If you live locally bake a couple of pies before you go to the game, wrap them in tinfoil and they will keep warm until half time.

Started doing it in JM at end of last championship season. Same for beers. Quick and easy

No chicken Balti in the JHU bar before the game, only meat. So you gotta go 2 seperate places if you want a balti & a pint.

First World problems, but yeah.

At risk of reopening up something that has doubtless been discussed on here before what exactly is the benefit of the "queue twice" system whereby food and drink must first be ordered on a separate machine (involving time-consuming multi button-pushes) before going to the serving counter to collect it ? What was wrong with just going to one counter and asking for what you want ? . It's reminiscent of the old USSR or somesuch, albeit with McDonald's style computer screen).
I decided I wanted a drink at half time yesterday but gave up trying to order one as the queue at the ordering terminal was so slow moving. Meanwhile the lad serving at the collection hatch was standing idle half the time.

There is no queue when you collect. That's the point. I've never had more than 2 people in front of me at a machine, and never been behind anyone at the collect part. Food or beer

OK....You may have a point but there were about 10 people in front of me yesterday and the lengthy "tap-tap-tap" process seemed to have the queue moving very slowly. Maybe I was just unlucky..I dont often use the Turf's catering facilities but was just curious.

I would have loved a pie, had to settle for a four-course meal and a sharing platter at half-time in hospitality. Can't get decent pies in France. Tried to take some hafners back once, but French customs would not allow me to take them back. Your fault for voting to leave the EU.
If you can't get any pies at the Blackburn match, hold your hand up, and I will pass you some stuff from the sharing platter.

I don't NEED to. I don't NEED to go on the match at all - but I like to have the option to do so. If the club is providing a **** service I don't NEED to raise the issue, but I have.

I hope that clears it up.

Why have those machines at all when you could and should be able to do it from your phone?

Only 4 order/pay machines working in the fanzone so the queue was a lot longer than normal.

Time we sacked whoever is in charge of catering?

Probably because many of us can get zero phone signal in the stadium.

I got a pie in the Jimmy Mac Lower at half time, so they hadn't sold out.
You dodged a bullet though judging by what I got served.

There is a simple answer to that really. Less staff overheads, there was a noticeable reduction in staff in the JHL lower this season compared to last.

£4.50 is daylight robbery for a pie, I genuinely cannot see any justification for it. And they are crap.

I've not bought anything since they removed the meal deals. I used to get a meal deal every home game, weirdly was part of the match day experience for me to eat on the Turf. Saved me £105 last season though.

My first world problem.

Me and my family haven't bought anything in the ground for 2 seasons now and looking at the queues in the CF stand, many more are following suit. The prices are eye watering, the service is poor and the quality on offer is even worse. More than capable to go without a pint and a pie for 100 minutes or so. Like the poster above, the pie and pint deal was part of the match day experience for the 3 of us but we don't miss it now

Last season I pre paid for pies that weren’t available. There was no way of sorting out a refund as the food points don’t handle money. I ended up missing a goal whilst they tried to sort it out.

I’ve never bought any pies since. As said above prices, quality and service are all sub standard.

Like others I’ve not bought anything from inside the ground for the last few years except for the occasional pie or hot drink when I’ve not had time to get anything beforehand and rushed to get to the game.

The £5/£6 meal deal was good value for a pie, drink and chocolate bar, having to pay that for just a pie is ridiculous
