That would be brilliant news if true. I love Jack but can’t imagine he’s happy to give his playing career up so soon, so maybe just a short term role?

I wouldn't rule it out, but there'd have to be a few more departures before it would make sense to register him for the 1st team.

I do like the idea of him playing with the u23s as a player/development coach

Exactly, it's not a new thing.

That said, not a massive fan of the coach being the keeper. Can't be a great sign to the younger keepers around the place. Defensive minded CM is pretty much ideal. Can see the game around him and talk through the game

Very good news. I had been told that he is related to John Eustace in some way (brother in law I think) and so the longer he went without a club I was starting to fear the worst!

I can guarantee that there won't be many coaches in world getting paid what Tom is.

Just going to throw this out there. But i think he could still do a job as one of the 2 sitting midfielders in the championship.

It's Fabrice Muamba and I think he's still here - wasn't he with the first team squad in Spain?

Really glad for Cork, he always comes across well,highly regarded and very balanced when talking about the game.

Get him training with the first team to incase Cullen gets injured

The logic has to be, surely, that he has had offers, been training with clubs, PNE was mooted for one, and one or both parties chose not to proceed......

From that, I don't then expect Cork to trouble the match day squad any time this season

39 apps in a championship winning side with 86% pass completion. Plus he's always liked a yellow, he got 7 when we qualified for Europe, having played 9 less games than 22/23.

You can manipulate stats any way you want.

Not saying I'd want him playing every week, but if he started the odd game, I wouldn't be worried

Mid 30s Keepers and Centre Mids are like apples and oranges though eh, its hardly surprising to see a disparity in salary there if you judge solely by age.

Delighted he’s back. He did say in his leaving interview he hoped to be back at the club sometime soon so I wonder if this was in the offing for a while.

He’s part way through his A license.

He was waiting until the end of the window to make a decision. Always knew he was only going to be an option for clubs once they’d sorted all their other business, as a free transfer. Also wanted to stay in the local area (reasonably). His family is very settled.

Still is .... theres an article about him on BFC Website today celebrating 25 years

Well, this is very good news for me. It adds back some of the continuity we will lose with JBG going, even in a coaching capacity, and presumably adds some real depth to the first team squad in midfield as back up for injury. It also gives Parker someone he can potentially lean on to support first team coaching when required who understands the squad (and who I assume Parker himself will know given their mutual London connections). He's also someone I'd expect to become a very fine coach if he wants to be.

He is but he was missing last Sunday, although that was for a very happy personal reason.

Was missing for the game at Millwall too. Probably explains why David Longwell was doing most of the coaching and Tony Philliskirk was there too.

Probably worth pointing out that Jack Cork isn't officially retired yet. He's still fit as a fiddle and available as a free agent. Perhaps why there is no official announcement on it yet.

That being said, if that was the metric for judgement, we still wouldn't have a goalie coach....
