Last man out please switch out the lights

Post by RalphCoatesComb » Fri Aug 23, 2024 10:40 pm

As Agent_Claret said in Team for Sunderland:

"Good luck     Picking this one"

It feels as if we're creating our own "Preloved Football Team"

Why have we destroyed the heart of our team two weeks into the season?

By "destroyed the heart of our team", I presume you mean selling Odobert? I'm not aware of anyone else who has started a game this season, who has left. Have I missed a few?

Berge? Who, had he played, would definitely be considered as the "heart" of the team.

Whether they have played or not, IMHO, they were the heart of our team. But, there's still some time in this window to make even more dollars and deplete us even further.

Looks like our Village has been devoured ;)

I don't consider the team that has won 4-1 and 5-0 to be a "destroyed" team. The absence of Berge has not destroyed us.

We will be ok.
We spent a long time in the top league in the world with a squad that had 3 centre halves and 3 wingers and at times had a bench that had 2 keepers on it.

Same folk that would be crying about our wage bill due to us having twice as many players as most other championship clubs.

When did we become such an entitled fan base

I think berge is overrated! Okay easy on the eye and great player.but getting 25m for someone who doesn’t assist and score often is good business. Not only that he’s been part of two relegated teams so he can’t be that bloody good.

It may work out OK but I can't imagine any supporters paying for a player's name on a replica shirt any more.

It’s almost as if the last 2-3 years of the clubs model of buying in young potential to sell at a profit to be able to compete financially was never fed down to us fans ……

I’m more upset with the price of a pie and a pint than the fact that the club is doing exactly what it said it would to make us financially competitive.

Our squad is still the strongest in the league and I’m sure we will bring in a young winger … we love them

We needed to shift some players, but I think we’ve shifted or are going to shift many of the wrong ones, unfortunately.

100% this. Although a week left in the window. Got to try and shift some more of the fringe players yet.

That’s how it works for us tho… always has been. Our really good players get snapped up by bigger clubs, or by clubs playing at a higher level. We then get looking for the next one. Hopefully, that next one develops and gets sold for massive profit enabling us to continue operating.

Was anyone really expecting clubs to come in and only take the players we fans see as bench warmers, leaving us with only the “good” players?

But failure to return to the PL means the model of selling players for profit collapses very quickly.

Unfortunately, player sales amount to a fraction of the money made from being at the highest level.

But we haven’t yet failed to return to the PL.

Out of all the outgoings so far, only Odobert is the surprise. Can’t count JBG really, he wasn’t here as an investment, and he’s gone to line his own pockets.

Still got Koleosho, still got Foster, still got Maxime, still got Cullen, we have some very good players on their way back from injury, and we’ve brought in Worral in preparation for losing Dara.

People are behaving like we’re staring at the abyss… almost as if it was never going to happen!!!

I do understand, really I do, but the only loss that concerns me really is Berge. He needs replacing, and with some degree of urgency. The reaction to it all (overreaction) is all just a bit mardy.

So many drama queens on this site. We're going to end this window with one of the 2 strongest squads in the division so what are you all worrying about? Just relax and enjoy being one of the big boys in the league, we won't always have it this good.

Robert, Berge, Gudmundsson gone. O’Shea, Amdouni, Benson to follow. I’d say that’s ripping the he as it out of the team.

Question is how much money do the owners need to cash in this window. Seems they are selling everyone and everything.

Is the money servicing debts or are there dividends to pay, genuine question.

Would be nice not to have to buy a complete new team again if we get promoted.

But is it? I'd say selling the likes of Cullen, Brownhill, Foster would be ripping the heart out of the team.
There's hardly one of the players you listed did anything to make you feel like they'll be missed. In fact I'll be fed up if Amdouni doesn't go

We had 37 players listed in last week's programme, and hav sold 6 and signed 2. That makes 33.

How come we can only field 17 of those 33?

Another complete delusional fan, slag off Amdouni relentlessly yet pretend Foster is amazing.
