Saw this in Burnley cemetery today can't say as I've noticed it before.

Good post - He was certainly way ahead of his time as a coach but was not recognised as such by the English FA powers that be and his skills were better appreciated overseas.

An absolute legend of the game.
I've always thought this but the original grounds of the football league (now adding Jimmy's tombstone) should genuinely be a pilgrimage for any true fan of association football - I feel the club should lean into this more with their marketing etc.

A link to the living, he was a great influence on Ron Atkinson, who was a Youth trainee at Aston Villa when Hogan was finishing his coaching career ..

I was invited when the gravestone was unveiled but unfortunately wasn't able to attend on the day. I believe all of his clubs bar one contributed to it with us not doing so. Thankfully some of the former directors did so, namely Clive Holt, Martin Hobbs, Terry Crabb, Barry Kilby and John Banaszkiewicz as did Burnley FC Supporters Groups. This photo is the first time I've seen it.

The reason you might not have seen the gravestone before is that it was only put in place in 2021.

I was invited by Pete Briggs from the Memorial Garden - really disappointed I couldn't make it although I did go to the unveiling of John Haworth's at Accrington around ten years ago.

We walk past the headstone/grave quite often. I didn't know about the lack of a contribution from the club.

What a guy, what a life. I've heard Jonathan Wilson praise him on podcasts before but never realised he was from Nelson. We know what we're talking about football-wise in Nelson...
