I’m not too disappointed with this one. Not first choice in any position but handy to have in the squad. Hope he gets his Brazil call up.

If the rumoured fee of 7 million ish is true then it's the best business the club has done since Wayne Thomas and Ian Moore.

Strange that there was a report a few days ago that said Vitinho had decided to stay with Burnley. I guess that was rubbish. Oh well, the money we got for him was unthinkable a few months ago.

I'll remember him for always giving his best despite playing with too many players who weren't doing that.

For all his faults, he was versatile, one hundred percent and seemed to genuinely enjoy playing for our club.

Its good money if the fee is correct - still a little disappointed to see him leave and wish him the best of luck.

I’m sad to see him go.

A really versatile player who would always give 100%.

Weirdly quite gutted to lose him. Decent at championship level and always put in 100% effort.

All the best to him. I will be delighted if he ever gets a call up for Brazil.

Likeable player who played like a fizzy bottle of pop at times and seemed to be able to get away with it. Neither a full back or a winger but played it by enthusiasm. If we got the money reported then the club has done well. Good luck

Wish him luck, as others have said was one of the few who showed a bit of backbone last season when we were getting walloped every week.

Quite sad to see him go. Seemed a decent lad and, as been said, always gave his all for the cause, despite the circumstances at times.

Hope he has a good career.

He had moments were he showed incredible skill but he was never a winger for me and definitely not good enough to be a premier league right back. Wish him the best.

7 million is an incredible fee if true!! While a handy squad player in the championship he was a liability in the premier league

I know almost nothing about football in Brazil but is signing at this price from a team in Europe a pretty big deal?

We will miss him but seems like the boy done good.

Sad to see him go, not a star, but a key player covering many positions.
I hope he makes his dreams of Braxil a reality, he takes my best wishes, and thanks.

One of the few you thought would run through walls for the club. What he lacked in quality sometimes, he more than made up for in heart and determination. I reckon he was right up Parker’s street too and I imagine he did everything he could to make him stay. You really cannot argue for a million quid and we’ve made a good profit. All the best to him.

Sad to see him go in all honesty, more so than the others.
Felt he always played with heart and left nothing on the pitch.
Can’t argue with the fee, but we’ve sold players this window for more who may have more talent but less than 10% of the desire.
I for one hope he plays for Brazil, plays in the wc final and scores a worldly winner against a Kompany led Belgian team.

Despite his cringeworthy song, he wasn't brilliant and was far too hit and miss for me, however, he'd started this season well and I hope he goes on to have a good career.

This ! 100% ...

When he left Cruzeiro in July 2018, the Club was mired in controversy and financial problems. He'd been there since he was 6 years old. He went on a 5 year deal to Bruges. Cruzeiro were relegated and only came back to the top flight in Brazilian football in 2022-23. Botafogo currently lie 2nd in the Brazilian Premier League, effectively Arsenal ( In British terms ) and I suspect he's glad to go home with his family to a successful stable Brazilian Club being paid good money !!

Good luck to him !!

I can't think of another Kompany signing who I will remember with any fondness in a few year's time.

He had his limitations as a player but made up for them by always putting a shift in and seemed like he genuinely played for the badge and the supporters.

Will be missed.

Whilst maybe no0t the most gifted player we've had, I loved his sheer enthusiasm and enjoyment when playing. He seemed to make people smile with that huge grin of his, before, during and after games.

So he leaves for the same reason as Weghorst, to further his chances of playing for his country. Similarly he was often the target of unjustified criticism but he always gave his all. We got a very good fee for him and he will always be our Brazilian who only cost a million!!

Definitely a likeable character but always felt he's quite raw. Surprised at the fee and surprised he wanted to go but best of luck to him for the future.

Vitinho always gave 100% for the cause wherever he was asked to play and deserves our best wishes. I think this will always be recognised
Maybe a signing that will always be linked with Kompany more than any other when we look back in years to come when the emotion has subsided

One of the strangest transfers of the window for me.. seemingly one that both player and club didn't particularly want but it happened anyway

Not really. Parker had already confirmed that Vitinho would be leaving.

I got the impression it was a deal set up by an agent who then sold it to Vitinho.. He wasn't keen on the move at first but then he was.. time will tell if it was the right decision for him.. I'm sure the agent made a few quid from it and we were never going to turn down 7m that's for sure.. just hope it works out for him with aspirations of being a regular in the national team.
Agents seem to have run riot in this window.

Yes, agents have far too much power.

The Brazilian national team must be in a pretty dire state if Vitinho is being considered.

Actually very very sad about this one even at that fee. Think his workrate, dedication & versatility were immense, his movement off the ball and space finding/attacking positioning is genuinely amongst the best I've ever seen for Burnley and elite in general (I lost track of the number of times he'd make great runs or find acres of space and nobody spotted the pass except maybe JBG if they were playing on the same side). His technical end product had often been frustrating but from those first 2 games this season looked to have finally clicked. I really think even at 25 he still has such a high potential if he can get that technical output down, you can usually develop ball control & delivery better than you can develop the positional & spatial sense he has.

Really hope he does get a Brazil cap one day. Him & Benson are my 2 favourite players of the Kompany era, for wildly different reasons, but think Viti is genuinely a loss to this Parker side.

Totally agree.
Coming from the Brazilian league to Europe to showcase his skills is usually the ticket for an ambitious footballer so it just strikes me as an odd one.. anyway.. bought for 1m and sold for 7m is a cracking deal

I can't help thinking that the offer and race for his signature was based on the back of his performance at Luton.

Its an awful lot of money for a utility player who was never guarnteed a start even in this market.

I'm hoping Botafogo don't expect that level of performance from him every week for his sake.

I would though, for £7 million tbh

Can't see that happening. He'll need lessons on how to spend 90 minutes on the deck.

I’m surprised by the lack of “I’m leaving, thanks to the fans” statements from those who have left.
