Or we've just played the long game.

The last time we wanted Worrall, forest wanted 10m and we wouldn't pay it.this time we got him for half that.

The last time we wanted Fleming, Mill wanted 10m and we wouldn't pay it.this time we got him for 2/3rds that.

We've also gone for targets we'd not heard of before, in some cases got them and in some we haven't.

It's turned out alright.

Just waiting for you to reuse the same grammatical markers you did under your previous user name. Then you’re cooked.

Proof will be on the pitch and off it, financially. Things look much better than a few days ago, that’s for sure.

There are still question marks (the clubs financial position, lack of quality / options up front and what our position will be if we don’t manage promotion).

I do like that we’ve gone for some good experience of this division, but hope that we haven’t totally given up on looking at hidden gems from abroad - key thing is finding a bit of balance.

Hopefully we are now starting to bring together a core of players that will be with us for more than a year, who will be able to ensure continuity and understanding of the club.

Over to Scott now, starting in a few hours.

Emotions have run high but that’s what happens when you love something. The analogy of several wives but only one football club comes to mind.
I’ve found the transfer thread highly entertaining and unless posts were removed that I didn’t see I can’t remember a lot of vitriol flowing despite the many arguments and disputes

I’ll wait til this ship eventually docks and if it hasn’t sunk en route then I’ll assess the damage and the treasure, if there’s any

I think maybe it has. We’ve moved away from the lightweight ‘flimsy’ flair players. Sure they can make the most money, but I think we’ve realised that not every single player in the first XI can be that.

Worrall is a Ben Mee sort.
Zian looks no nonsense.
Laurent is 29 and has to be more physical

Think we did recognise the need the need for a striker. But wanting one and getting the other teams to give us what they have doesnt always work out.

I think some people have had to learn the hard lesson that you cant build a team in 1-2 windows.

We tried. It briefly worked. But we’ve all just witnessed a window of corrections. Its been drastic but necessary. I think all in all. We’ve done well.

Its just a shame this had to be so close to the derby. Its a risky business to put it mildly

Chelsea have been the same to my mind. They’ve had built a bigger changing room to accommodate them all - and now cannot shed the players they want as they foolishly said yes to every demand made

I think people get a bit reactionary in times of extreme turmoil. Personally don't think it's been that bad on here.

You should take a look at other messageboards and fan bases on twitter to see true toxicity.

I think it's still a pretty rough window in honesty. We've let go a number of players I would prefer we retained and believe we could have retained (Vitinho, Zaroury, arguably JBG, possibly Amdouni also), retained players I think ought to have moved on (Tresor, Delcroix, IF he won't play then Benson), and lost players we haven't had replacements of equivalent quality to (Amdouni, Odobert, Berge, JBG, possibly O'Shea or Muric,arguably Weghorst even if he was unlikely to ever feature). We have a glaring lack of depth in the striker department with big questions over every player in that role. Our overstocked wing areas have suddenly become a lot less deep especially with the problems with Tresor & Benson. There's less depth at LB or RB. I don't believe anyone can argue we've ended the window stronger than when it opened, or stronger than we were after game 2. I do believe we're weaker.

I'm obviously going to get behind the new players, back the team, and give the new guys time to gel- but the very level of upheaval also means that time to gel is likely to be a lot, lot longer than normal and thus disrupt our chances this season. Which further makes me feel like this window is in practice not nearly as good a window as it looks on an account book. And even if it works out, it doesn't change that this is once again a massive high risk strategy and I still do not believe it is sustainable to overhaul the squad this much every summer. Continuity & familiarity tend to help on the pitch.
