In short, yes. It is very deliberately in airbourne colours

Airborne = Maroon
Burnley = Claret
Not sure what the difference is and I don’t want to appear pedantic but I’m pretty sure there is a difference?

What plane is that a silhouette of? I associate Operation Market Garden with the C47/Dakota, but that's not what is on the shirt.

Interesting club history, not all savoury! In 2000 the sponsor forced the Chairman to resign! They were taken over by a Georgian and last season were deducted 18 points for misdemeanours.

It seems they have an annual airborne memorial match each September where Vitesse wear the claret strip.

Yes, it just doesn’t seem particularly suitable for a club’s football shirt in my opinion.

1485 British and Polish airborne troops were killed or died of wounds and 6,525 more became prisoners of war. Many of the dead lie in the Arnhem-Oosterbeek Cemetery.

I say well done to Vitesse Arnhem for continuing to remember those who took part, and gave their lives, in the Battle for Arnhem.

Vitesse do this every year on memorial weekend, they have a one-off special kit which is auctioned off for charity. They are proud to keep alive the memory of those who fought and died trying to liberate their city.

Seems they're more proud of our war heroes than some of our own countrymen.

It’s nice that they commemorate those who liberated their city, I just find images of military aircraft on a football shirt a little inappropriate.

It’s a symbol of the aircraft that brought the troops that helped with their eventual freedom.

A symbol of liberation and freedom from the cruelty of the Nazi regime and it’s good to put it on a football shirt to keep history alive and keep us all aware of the lessons it can teach us. If we don’t do things like this we are possibly going to make the same mistakes – lets put accurate history front and centre and it might help in what are some difficult times we are experiencing in the world today. The war was a reality remember what it was fought for and what it meant or it will get hi jacked.

Visited the cemetary when i was about 18,many moons ago.A sobering place that was beautifully cared for.The last post played by my friend was a poignant reminder of what took place.Lest we forget!!

I think it is a symbol of turning a long period on the defence into some difficult but successful moves forwards and onto the attack, especially since the opposition kicked off and had a lot of initial possession.
