Good to see some of the first team there watching as well, including Maxi
Great experience for the young lads

Looks another great tournament. Fair play to the Academy for being able to attract the calibre of club that it has for the last couple of years.
Must take a hell of a lot of organising.

Blimey, the lad to the right of the goalie has a fair old mop of hair.

Surprised it’s not really being covered on UTC. Appears to be a very prestigious event being staged by Burnley. Well done to the organizers

The clubs fund their own trips, it's nothing new to youth football.

The club will pay to host it, although the participating clubs may contribute, I suppose.
The clubs will pay for the kids travel/accommodation - or there parents will.
No idea where they stay. Padiham isn’t full of hotels?

I went a few years back and it was fantastic. The standard of football these lads are playing is unreal.
Couldn’t make it this year but it’s moved on a lot since then if they have stands, live streaming, etc
Huge credit to the club for doing this and developing it. I’d personally far rather we invest more money in the facilities needed to run this kind of thing than £15m on Mike Tresor (as an example).

Yes I've been down before also and it's improving every year in terms of organisation, standards and the levels of teams taking part , it's a good atmosphere and is being well received by teams , staff & parents of the visiting teams.
It's also building a reputation as one of the top Academy tournaments.
Will take a lot of organising and well done to all those putting the work in to get this event on.

I watched a few games in this tournament, we had some giants in our side. No idea who he is but our number 3 was superb, liked a challenge too !

It will do a world of good for our academy reputation as well. We desperately need someone to come through the academy soon as to help encourage players to sign for us.
Getting category 1 status back would also be huge but going off the blatant cash flow problems there's been this summer I imagine that's well and truly been put on the backburner

I agree about reputation this will be doing the academy. By the way, they have AIScout there and all the kids typically have a go and they gather their data. Will be interesting to see if that becomes a strategic advantage for us in future.
Either way, what a great way to publicise the clubs to the best young players in world football every year. Some of those Chelsea or Liverpool lads may get released at some point, or be looking for a new club, and remember that tournament and our facilities, etc. and sign for us. Or just follow us more generally. My lad did something similar at a Valencia and keeps an eye on them/watches when they’re on TV now as a result.
Re: Cat 1 I’m gutted we lost that but equally not sure the cost is worth it? If I were spending the £, I’d rather spend it on hiring the very best coaches in the game rather than worrying about status/protocols needed for these things. I think that’s more likely to build you a reputation in the game and bring young lads through.
Re: cash flow, I’m not sure I would deduce that from our transfer dealings. I’d argue we’d have sold much earlier in the window if cash were a problem. I’d say it’s more likely PSR issues were facing.

Yeah, that’s what struck me - a lot of organisation required.
Would really recommend people go and watch in person next year if they can. It’s quite surreal seeing young players from AC Milan and Juventus strolling around Gawthorpe.
I don’t see why they can’t do a couple of these a year say in September and March - maybe different age categories, etc.
Hopefully as time goes on the other clubs push it more on their socials and it gets the following it deserves.

The competition is normally May/June time and I think it will go back to that date next year. I think the amount of organisation involved would make it very hard to do more than one competition per year. It isn't just the teams etc its also working out when the first team aren't in etc so all the facilities are available.
Been involved in this competition since the start and it has got bigger and better each year really does put a positive showcase on the club.
