I’m already enjoying watching England more under Carsley than Southgate’s team.

I wouldn't normally bother....but seeing as Southgate has gone. It's a fresh start.

Midfield is absolutely dominant. Gordon is looking really lively on the wing too but we’re still trying to walk it into the net a bit too much.

Great goal. Southgateesque move.
Hilarious that the two pantomime villains have scored.

All we needed was someone that wasn’t scared to death of playing forward, very obvious to see.

What a refreshing change to see an England team moving the ball forward with pace and getting men in the box. After that mind-numbing garbage I had to watch under Southgate, this is at least entertaining.

Indeed
Despite people blowing smoke up south gates arse for reaching finals the football we played was absolutely dire especially in the euros. I hope if Carsley gets the job he keeps this attitude. I’d rather us go out in a blaze of glory then the scared timid shite we played all the way through the euros.

Trent is a luxury against the likes of ROI, but a liability against quality.

Yet won every major title for club possible by the age of 22.
The myth of Trent being a liability will one day die out, maybe.

I know Ireland are poor, but this is so much better, moving the ball quickly and runners from midfield.

He played for Ireland in his youth and was castigated by the Irish when he changed allegiance to England so he always said he wouldn’t wind the Irish up…or something to that effect!

Well that was refreshing to watch. Movement and forward passing. A very promising first 45 minutes for Carsley albeit against a very poor Irish team.
I think the referee has been very leniant and inconsistent with his cards. How Smallbone escaped a booking for his cynical take out of Kane when he was nowhere near the ball was astounding and then another late foul not long after. Bradys late lunge went unpunished too and yet he has booked Mainoo and Szmodics for a lot less. If this was less one way we may have been talking about him.

Correct
But till Carsley gets anywhere near doing that let's not go overboard, after 45mins against a poor side in what is really a meaningless game

Yes, a really good half that, albeit against a dreadful Irish side.
Let’s hope we can do what Southgate seemingly couldn’t and have two good halves of football in one game.

No penalty and yet Ogbene isn't looking at the ball and pulls Maguire over. Astonishing.

I’d agree with a lot of the comments that it’s a far more refreshing approach than we saw with Southgate albeit against what looks a poor Ireland side.
A question - who’s the co-commentator on the ITV coverage?

Struggling to do that at the moment
A better team than Ireland could have scored at least one
Hopefully a few subs might make a difference

Yep, was just about to post the same - we seem to have reverted to type. I was really hoping we’d proper paste a team, like 5 or 6 nil, which this side should be capable of doing against a dreadful Ireland team.
And Harry Kane still looks a couple of yards off the pace.

It seems a little like the Ronaldo at Portugal situation, has been a great player but probably needs to pass the torch but nobody dare tell him.
