Hull v Sheffield Utd

Sheffield Utd’s starting XI looks formidable, but they’ve got very little on the bench.

Be interesting to see how they get on if they start picking up injuries.

Hull look far too poor on the ball to play the way they’re trying to.

This is shaping up as a comfortable Sheff Utd win.

Leeds are the same, very little depth if they pick up 3-4 injuries

Three or four times now they’ve nearly been caught out. Sky Sports commentator however describes the style as ‘exciting’.

Horrendous from Hull.

How often do you see a 3 on 1 unless a side is chasing an equaliser in the dying minutes?

I’m going way early here, but I wonder what odds you’d get on this latest Hull manager being gone by bonfire night.

Both Hamer and Arblaster on yellows after 25 minutes.

Not been particularly impressed by Sheff Utd either, tbh.

Hull look quite awful tonight.

Strange choice to replace Rosenior with someone who’s going to have them comfortably near the relegation zone.

Committing loads of bodies forward, being **** on the ball and playing a high defensive line is one way to play football.

Yeah, really poor.

No attempt to control the game from either team.

The naivety in Hull’s play is quite spectacular. In spite of that, Hull have somehow had a few good breaks which shows the weaknesses in Sheff Utd’s side. I’d fancy us to comfortably beat both of these. The disparity between ourselves, Leeds and the Blades to the rest of the division is chasm like in raw quality. I would be stunned if that isn’t the top three, what order is anybody’s guess (not intended to sound arrogant, just based on everything I’ve seen so far this season - yes, including the Sunderland game!).

Averages roughly one in three at this level and scored 7 in 18 for Ipswich last season.

If you’re a side that gets crosses in the box, he’s more than useful in this division.

Sunderland have started well, but they’ve not really played anyone. I include us in that, given when that game fell for us.

A lot of smoke was blown up Sunderland after they beat us, seemingly ignoring the fact that we were bang in the middle of flipping our squad.

Decent player at this level, but you also wouldnt want him as your main striker for 46 games.

Tyrese Campbell and Rhian Brewster are even worse.

Probably reliant on Hamer and O’Hare to both get into double figures.

I agree. I actually thought they were awful against us after the first fifteen minutes. We were there for the taking that day by anybody, it was clear as day in body language and the match day squad itself - It was a perfect storm with everything going on.

Yep. Spot on. If we’d have had a modicum of anything about us that day we would have taken at least a point.

They’ve beaten Cardiff, Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth besides us. Those three have one win between them. And that win was Sheffield Wednesday beating Plymouth who Sunderland play tomorrow.

I agree they started well against us but were then pretty bad against us, and an us which was a patched together squad with a lot of uncertainty, a good team would have done us 3-0 or more that day.

However, one thing I would say is that you can't judge a team off of one game, look at us in the Kompany promotion season where we destroyed the division, if anyone neutral saw the 0-0 away to Blackpool they would have asked what all the fuss about Burnley was.

They’re still a v new team like us really. And not sure on that anyway, their midfield of Hamer, Arblaster, Souza and O’Hare is very strong for this level. Cooper is probably the best keeper in the league.

He's been mostly injured. Genuinely no idea how anyone can suggest he's the best keeper in the league when he's only played 22 games in it.
