Hannibal

Post by ElectroClaret » Sat Sep 14, 2024 2:44 pm

Think there's a really good player (at this level) in there, great passion, as someone posted on the match thread.

But needs to control the red mist and cut out losing
his rag, but i like him.

Apart from all that, I'd prefer to see abit more from him on the ball. He's very busy but lacks a bit of control currently.

That’s probably due to the two games in the league we’ve seen hik in being high tempo , hostile atmospheres where we haven’t really got on the ball and really played it about much. I think he will surprise people come the end of the season

Very effective spoiler, but far less so after he gets booked.

Loved the way he left the pitch! Said when we signed him that I thought he could be a real fans favourite and I haven’t changed my mind. Really like him.

I think we knew that before he put on the shirt, it's generally how early he'll get booked that determines how effective he'll be. Still a very good acquisition though and hopefully the games we are more in control of will see him avoiding the referees notebook.

You can’t knock his enthusiasm but hopefully will learn to stop picking up soft yellow cards as somewhat limits his defensive duties.

He’s been like that all his career and he’s not going to change. Hopefully Parker can keep him level headed whilst still maintaining his commitment. I think we’ll see the more yellows he gets in each game the more he’ll be substituted. Today there was no need to do what he did and get booked as his game time was excellent.

Definitely a character and terrier like trying to win the ball but not sure he gets in to our strongest side from what I’ve seen.

Not seen him contribute much in possession as yet although does seem to be out of position.

He can definitely play. Just needs to stop the stupid bookings because he’s nowhere near as effective when he’s on a yellow.

He should have been taken off at half time today in my opinion.

I think his booking today was harsh, all he did was have a go at Solomon for diving when worrall won the ball. Solomon was equally in Hannibal’s face and didn’t receive a yellow.

But even though he got a yellow he got the reaction he wanted because ampadou then 2 minutes later tried to completely take Hannibal out with the ball and ended up injuring himself and they had to bring him off in the second half when he normally plays the full game.

His booking was absolutely moronic but typical of him getting involved in things he doesn’t need to. Took himself out of the game in the process and should have come off at half time.

Play football with a Brum supporting mate and he was full of praise for Hannibal. He said he is an expert wind up merchant and always does the thing of getting in someone's face without actually making contact with their head. Which is exactly what he was booked for today :D (harsh booking imo)

Thought Hannibal and Brownhill were very much like he Blackburn game in that they pressed and took control early on but struggled to be effective as the game went on

Give it two months and get Cullen back properly and Parker will have then ticking like VK did two years ago

He’s exactly the type of character we needed last season.

An absolute shithouse that doesn’t mind getting in the face of the opposition.

Not sure if anyone else thought the same but I thought Solomon’s game was quite poor after Hannibal got in his face. Felt like he was rattled

It wasn’t moronic at all, it’s unlucky, Esteve got in Leeds players face in 96th minute when they dived and didn’t get a card. Players do it

Esteve was directly involved in the incident and shouted at a player on the floor. Nothing wrong with that.

Hannibal ran from the halfway line to stick his head in a player’s face, for an incident he was miles away from and had nothing to do with. That is definitely moronic.

He's an idiot. He got booked for persistent stupidity, not just the one incident. He creates feuds for no reason. His silly behaviour after his substitution required a bunch of stewards to escort him (I wonder if there will be consequences from this?). He's clearly a competent energetic football and the sooner he concentrates on that the better.

Ok, he ran from about 4-5 yards inside his own half then if we’re being pedantic, probably didn’t show that on tv. Tarky never did that. He’d absolutely have a go at a player he thought had dived, when he was involved or very close to the incident - just as Esteve did yesterday and that’s fine.

Notice how literally all our players who were near the incident were congratulating Worrall on a brilliant tackle, it’s just stupidity for Hannibal come from miles away to have a go at their player.

All it takes is for their player to pretend he’s been nutted and Hannibal is off. Although he near may as well have been given he’s was out of the game anyway from then on.

It’s not stupidity at all, it’s the way he is and makes him who he is, it’s just a negative take from you. Completely missed someone with his attitude last season. Throughout the season you will see multiple players at clubs not involved in incidents run to players to moan about them going down or faking being hurt.

All that being said Hannibal doesn’t get into the best start 11 when everyone is fit but having someone with his attitude around the squad is needed

I like players who play on the edge, and this squad definitely needed some character - so on that basis I’m a big fan of Hannibal from what I’ve seen so far. That said, his yellow yesterday was completely stupid and hampered the remainder of his game.

His exit from the field was very amusing considering the abuse he was getting, but he also took it a bit far and potentially could have received a further yellow card and suspension.

Not sure I can disagree more

We need more of his behaviour. Maybe not the extreme stuff but the riling up players and getting in there faces is exactly what we want

lol at negative. The only negative was the effect it had on the team’s performance as he was completely nullified by getting booked for his own stupidity.

Like I said, nobody near the incident was concerned with their player so why come from miles away to stick your head in someone’s face and risk a red card?

He’s a decent player and will be important for us at times this season but only if he’s playing football and not picking up unnecessary cards.

Hannibal to be booked was printing money yesterday and that isn’t a good thing.
