Trafford

Estève

Ekdal

Cullen
Laurent
Brownhill

Anthony
Flemming
Koleosho

Foster

More attack minded than current team. Lots of other options. Good luck with your picks

I'm surprised you've got Foster in there after your crass comment yesterday.

Where are the full backs btw?

He is our only top quality striker which is why it is so important for him to be fit and play consistently. At Leeds we had to play Flemming who is an attacking midfielder. I certainly could have worded my post better but it was not meant in any way to be disparaging to the player and said more because of his importance to the team. Apologies to those I upset

I'll have a go.

Trafford

Roberts Bayer Esteve Humps

Cullen Brownhill

Tresor Flemming Kolo

Foster

Subs Hadi, Worrall, Pires, Hannibal, Anthony, Sermi, Ramsey, Jay (as he's proper homegrown) and Houti or Lauren, the latter if away.

What has Tresor done to warrant a place in our best XI?

Really hard to do this... We don't seem to have much natural width on the right and yes, I'll keep banging the drum but it's why I wanted to keep Vitinho.

----------Trafford
Roberts-Ekdal-Esteve-Humphrey
----------Cullen
-----Brownhill--Hannibal
--Flemming-Foster----Koleosho

Flemming playing narrow off the right coming into the central areas, Roberts high and wide in possession, Koleosho hugging the touchline and getting in behind down the left... Brownhill & Hannibal legs everywhere in midfield. Domination.

--------------------------JT
------Roberts Beyer Esteve Pires

Anthony Brownhill Flemming Koleosho
------------------------Foster

Feels really harsh on Hannibal though!

-------------Trafford
Roberts-Ekdal-Esteve-Humphreys
----------Cullen -- Brownhill--
--------------Flemming
--Koleosho ---------------Anthony
--------------Foster

The good news now is we have a decent squad to fill all positions now.

Backup:
------------Hladky
--Sambo -- Worrall -- Beyer -- Pires
--------Massengo -- Laurent
-------------Ramsey
Redmond -------------Tresor
-----------Jay Rod

We are probably still a bit light in the fullback areas, and striker cover, but things are looking a lot healthier than they were a few weeks ago.

Obviously we need to get Benson, Beyer, Ramsey, Redmond and Ekdal back fit of course.

It’s basically impossible to call at the moment. The best players don’t always make the best team.

Feel we’ve balanced the squad out well and have good strength in depth now. Hoping this run of games gives us a look at other players too.

Hope we get to Jan well placed and then the FB positions are prioritised.

We have a very good squad, and a lot of matches to come.

I don't think we need a best XI, more horses for courses. Keeps everyone fresh and on their toes. Also means fewer unhappy bunnies in the squad, lessons learnt from last season, I hope.

After two appearances at FB Humphries hasn’t impressed. He’s a CB so doesn't make my cut.
Pires has a first touch problem but is a LB.
I haven’t selected Beyer because of his injury situation, he might never be back.

Trafford
Roberts..Ekdal..Esteve..Pires
Cullen
Sarmiento..Brownhill..Koleosho
Flemming
Foster

Hladky
Egan-Riley
Worrall
Humphries
Laurent
Mejbri
Joseph
Rodriguez
Hountondji

Shame we haven't got a FB ready to go but I can only find Sambo and Dodgson in the squad and neither are ready from what little I’ve seen of them.

It’s difficult but here goes a couple of options :

Trafford
Roberts Worrall Esteve Humphreys
Cullen
Hannibal Flemming
Koleosho Foster Anthony

This option seeing Roberts invert and sit next to cullen and the other defenders go to a 3 in possession, freeing up Hannibal and Flemming to press and push higher .

Trafford
Roberts Worrall Esteve Pires
Cullen
Bronwhill Hannibal
Koleosho Foster Anthony

More orthodox with two “proper fullbacks” , strong pressing from Brownhill and Hannibal but one drops in when needed. I think Hannibal’s pressing is phenomenal but if he is better on the ball than Bronwhill which I think he will prove to be much better in time, then I feel he should be the one who drops next to Cullen when required .

Having said all that I still feel that Flemming needs to be playing . What a headache for Parker, a very good one mind you.

Laurent gets nowhere near. Good addition to the squad, able to help out in certain situations, but id be surprised to see him in anyone else’s best XI.

With every single player fully fit, on form and playing how we know they can play?

Trafford.

Roberts
Beyer
Esteve
Pires

Hannibal
Cullen
Brownhill
Kolio

Flemm
Foster.

Hannibal listed to provide extra spunk in needle games..to be alternated with a more conventional wide player ..maybe Tresor, for certain games.

Tresor should clearly be nowhere near a best 11 based on what we’ve seen so far. In fact he’d be in a lot of worst 11s. It’s like putting Gascoigne in an all time best Burnley 11.

Apart from Flemming
Fleming played on the right wing before moving centrally because he’s a good finisher.

He is best described as a right sided attacking midfielder.

Where are you going to move him to?

With Parker in charge now, I’d say firstly when he’s fit, and secondly when he’s demonstrated consistently in training that he’s the best option for what the manager wants to see happen in the game.

Interesting that quite a few have dropped brownhill in favour of Hannibal. I would also seriously consider that option, but I’d like to see a little more of him first. I think he has the making of a really good partner for Cullen in the middle. I certainly may see him as the future in there.
Be interesting to see what happens come January.

I genuinely don’t understand this, if I was being pedantic that would mean any new signing shouldn’t get in the best team as we haven’t seen anything of them yet.

I get that he hasn’t performed particularly well yet and that he wouldn’t necessarily be everybody’s first choice and even I would have to think about it before I included him in my line up. The guy has quality though his career in the Belgium leagues tells us that at least, we haven’t seen it and there is much repair work for him and the Club to do but if on board and used correctly I can see him becoming one of the best players to play in the Championship. Although I have resigned myself to him not playing a part and moving on loan in Jan.

Yeah I’m not doubting that.

Seems weird how two managers now haven’t fancied him.

Maybe another one needs to get his head right.

Since moving to the championship he’s played less than 5 games at right wing. (For comparison he’s played the same amount of the left).

The rest of the time in the championship he’s played centrally either as a striker or a ten.

IMO he has 100% been signed to play number 10

Anthony and Koleosho were very diligent in their defensive duties against Leeds. Their work ethic to get up and down consistently was seriously impressive.

For all of Benson’s quality in certain moments, he just doesnt contribute enough to the defensive side.

Why anyone would want a player who clearly doesn't want to be here in their best current XI is way beyond my comprehension.
