I suspect the only changes would be Roberts and Foster coming in if fit.

I think that's it, depending on fitness

Good team at this level. Also with our recent Premier League excursions it makes it pretty clear where we could do with improvements - full back as the priority in Jan for me

Can't imagine Hannibal not starting assuming he's fit. He hasn't come to Burnley to sit on the bench - except when suspended!

There'll definitely be a change at right back irrespective of Roberts fitness.

Neither has Flemming…

We’re pretty strong in the middle.

Although Hannibal is a player you'd arguably always want in your team, he has the unfortunate tag that he can play several positions /roles without actually nailing one down imo, but as we all saw last week, if for nothing else you'd want him there for he's shithousery, but at the same time could be a red card waiting to happen, Parker simply needs to get to know him and play him in the right way to get the best out of him, may not be easy, but nevertheless could have a big part to play this season.

Hopefully Parker has instructed a shoot on sight policy with Norris in the goals for Portsmouth.

I wonder if Parker let's the handbrake off a little and plays a more attacking team?

We should find out tomorrow how he wants to play with most back fit.

Pretty certain that is Parker ideal starting eleven this season

It's a tough one, especially in midfield and up front. Hannibal and Laurent have featured in the last two games, one of which was an excellent away win against a main promotion rival. It would seem extremely harsh to leave either out and could upset them tbf, and yet you'd have to think Flemming and Cullen are at this moment in time stronger options. It's a nice problem to have, but I'm actually glad I'm not Parker as somebody is going to be peed off. He might help himself a little bit and leave Foster out after last week, even if he's now fit in order to accommodate Flemming, but Foster is the more recognised striker. We'll see!

You seriously have to play your striker if he's fit - Flemming didn't join us to be a makeshift one.

How can you possibly be “certain”? I bet Parker isn’t even certain yet.

So, in our 6th game of the season and having already played with three different squads you are able to state quite categorically that Scott Parker has reached the stage of knowing his ideal line up. Imagine that. That has to look good on his CV.

If Foster does play one would imagine Flemming will play just behind him or even SS.

Totally agree. But then who do you leave out after a winning performance away at a big promotion rival? (Other than Humphreys of course)

I mean it’s not rocket science is it, he’s practically played the same style his whole managerial career.

The players RV has selected very very closely fits that system.

He’s practically always played with a physical forward and tricky number ten. So that’s foster and Flemming sorted.

Now midfield, think we can all admit that Brownhill and Cullen when fit will be his go to.

Out wide Koleosho will start every game when fit. Anthony is his golden boy.

Back four and keeper picks itself.

Football isn’t the rocket science you make it out to be

It's a toss up for me between Flemming and Foster, the others need to play if fit imo.

Wouldn’t mind seeing this lineup, tbf Anthony has done enough to keep his place and I think a run of games is doing him the world of good.

Who mentioned 'rocket science'? What is it anyway? You appear to have a well documented history of Scott Parker's management career; to the extent you know the team he is going to choose before he does.
Little incentive therefore for the rest of the squad to try and make their mark during the week as the manager already has his team for the next game pencilled in. You are offering nothing regarding the opposition strengths/weaknesses or availability even. Football is a relatively simple game but it does have its nuances and dynamics which should tend to keep us all on our toes.

Vincent Kompany has fooled a lot of people into thinking it’s normal to change your starting eleven.

Parker is much more like Dyche he will have his starting eleven and I’m pretty confident it will be RVs side

Got to feel for Flemming he looked a class above anybody else on the pitch but Hannibal earned his shirt for today. Tough decisions but for good reasons.

Egan-Riley was fairly unconvincing against the lot from the stables. Guessing a couple of knocks. I'd have gone with Egan though.

He was also our best player away at Sunderland and has played a champions league match at right back.

I think at right back where the game's in front of him, Egan-Riley will be absolutely fine. He's 21 years old, and at the moment not equipped to play CB consistently. I'd go as far to say he's got the potential to knock Roberts out the first 11 at RB over the course of the season

Looking at the team selection before the game and with the benefit of seeing this & the Leeds game, it looks to me like Parker is pretty cautious with his starting 11 and wants to start the game tight and defensive and then see how the game unfolds.
We undoubtedly have the players to unlock the opposition but his style of play is cautious and doesn't lend itself to using flair players.
As the season progresses and we hopefully keep picking points up he may take the leash off the defence and start to play more attacking.
