Trying to recall the last home game v Pompey, I think it eventually came to me however not 100% certain. Was it a Steve Cotterill master class away performance ?

Just dug out a match programme for ur away game at Fratton Park on Monday 1st April 2002.
It was Harry Redknapp’s second game in charge. Also amongst their ranks were Eddie Howe and Wolves manager, Gary O’Neil.
On our bench was a certain Paul Gascoigne, who made an appearance late in the game to a standing ovation from all sides of the ground.
Can’t remember the score (think it was a draw).

Looking at the line ups from the last game here and it just looks bizarre seeing Marvin Bartley playing and Dean Marney an unused sub.

Less surprising was the comment about Marvin Bartley giving the ball away.
I could see why we'd gone for Bartley with his physical attributes, but he just couldn't reach the level technically unfortunately.

Michael Appleton was their manager the last time we played them on the Turf.

Marney had played the previous game at West Ham. Strange decision to be honest.

If we play half as well as we did in the game in 1982 we will win comfortably. We were simply outstanding that day with brilliant goals from Phelan and Scott. I thought that was our best home performance of 81/82. 42 years is a long time to wait for a win!

Dean Marney scored an overhead kick against Portsmouth, I think, unless that was some sort of fever dream I had.

Think that's John Westwood, the superfan.
Wears a top hat.

Still annoys me they got off with Rednapp and co's alledged dodgy dealings, we should have had our pints back.
Don't mind Portsmouth though and their fans.

Was this a dream, or did I once go to Fratton and the HT score was 1-1, but we ended up 5-1 up?
Edit- just read DD's post, same game perchance?

He did. Howe’s second match in charge at Fratton Park.
