A very accurate account, thank you.

“ We needed to change things and Parker opted for a double change just past the hour, withdrawing Hannibal Mejbri and Jaidon Anthony with Flemming and Sarmiento replacing them. The effect was almost immediate.”

Very true… Parker made really positive changes that very quickly affected the game. He’s not afraid of changing things and having a Plan B is a hugely useful tool. He made the changes with enough time to completely change the game, as well.

All true and very laudable.

But it's worrying how supposedly inferior sides like Cardiff, Pompey and maybe Sunderland have run us ragged in the first 45.

Not for one minute has anyone run us ragged

Parker did get the first subs on early enough - just! And they were the right changes too, but being churlish I actually thought changes at half time were probably warranted after the way we basically made no impact in the first half. I was surprised to see the same eleven trotting out.

Portsmouth were as negative as bstards, we just have to put up with teams shutting up shop.

It'll be the same every home game apart from probably Leeds. We'll need to adapt to sort it. Imo that means Flemming and Foster both starting, Kolo on the left (where he is a much bigger threat) and choosing between Brownhill and Hannibal. I think it also means Semeinto for Anthony and getting Tresor fit (head and body) enough to be given an opportunity.

We need to go all-out for an early goal against such teams, but I'm sure Parker knows that, his knowledge compared to mine is obviously immense.

Good read as always - and another 3 points

At Sunderland we were in a bit of a pickle... apart from that we are unbeaten... keep up the unbeaten run and keep the wins flowing and be hard to beat.... and we will end up in a good place

I distinctly heard myself telling Sarmiento to shoot, so I'm taking some credit for our equaliser. 🤭

I raise you.... I said to fellas who I go on the matches with at half time over a warm cider, "Sarmiento and Flemming need to be on right now!" :D

I actually said to my mate that when the subs came on I could sense a similar game to when we beat Rotherham in our promotion season.

I don't see it that way.
The goal was very Bensonesque, albeit from the opposite flank. I think Sarmiento will be most effective doing exactly as he did on Saturday.
Koleosho or Anthony running them ragged down the left for about 60 /70 minutes, then Sarmiento coming on to torment them for the last third of the game.
On the evidence so far, however, the big difference between Sarmiento and Benson is that he will also put in a defensive shift and mix it up a bit.
