Now 80-7.
Our game is the only one in play at the moment, it's raining everywhere else.
Stupid to play such an important round of matches at the end of September.
To stay up, Lancs need to win this and probably score at least 350 in their first innings. Highly unlikely.

Unfortunately if Notts and Warwickshire draw then Lancashire are down

113/7 doubled the score in 6 overs, we could end up losing this game anyway :D

Not quite.
If the Notts v Warks game is drawn without any bonus points ( i.e. rained off ), Notts would finish on 149.
If Lancs beat Worcestershire with maximum bowling points and four batting points (i.e. scoring 400 in their first innings ) they would also finish on 149, but would stay up on the basis of having won more games.

This is all so unlikely that to all intents and purposes Lancs are already down

I was hopeful reading your post until you wrote about Lancashire needing to score 400 in their first innings 😁😗

That’s why we’re going down.

Relegation confirmed for Lancashire, and not long after promotion confirmed for Yorkshire.
Wasn't too happy after watching the Oxford game this afternoon, but my steak and red wine will taste an awful lot sweeter this evening now.

Accepting that the points system is there for all to see, and acknowledging that Lancs failed miserably on batting bonus points, we won three games, more than each of the two teams above us.

Winning games should warrant more points as cricket is about batting AND bowling (and tactics) not just scoring high in the first innings.

Makes a change from the “we failed because of the weather” excuse I guess

We’ve been relegated because we’ve played some awful cricket for the majority of the season whilst continuing to play and sign players who are not good enough.

I would imagine that a good reason for awarding 1st innings batting points is to encourage teams to prepare good batting wickets and for teams to exploit this
Low scoring games with both teams scoring maximum bowling points is fine, but we like to see a good balance between bat and ball and a good 4 day pitch should have lots of runs in it on the first couple of days and then encouragement for the spinners on the last day
If that’s an old- fashioned way of looking at it - then guilty as charged
