We were driving down to Stanmore and then Tube to the Den but just found out that there's Tube strikes on Sunday so can't get a Tube back. Anyone got any ideas on parking around the Den ?

The overground trains are still functional so you could still drive into anywhere on the Greater Anglia line if it’s not a major issue (goes north into Hertfordshire for example Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Hertford), train into Liverpool Street (20-30 min), 15/20 minute walk to London Bridge station, overground train to the ground (5 min). Probably the same with the trains into Moorgate which is even more East than the line I just mentioned.

If it were me driving from the north and wanting to park up on the outskirts I'd be looking at something on the London Bridge to Luton Thameslink line, maybe Harpenden. Return train is about a tenner and takes about 40 minutes.

For those on the train you'll be able to get a Thameslink train from London Bridge to St Pancras which is next to Kings Cross and Euston.

Ah, I was going to park at Edgware, tube to London Bridge. Sounds like we won’t be able to get back to Edgware now on the tube.

After the game - S Bermondsey to London Bridge then London Bridge to St Pancras on Thameslink. Then Kings Cross to Stevenage, get a fast train it is the second stop and a 5 min drive to the A1M to head North. KIngs Cross and St Pancras stations are right next to each other.

Or as said further up, park at Harpenden or St Albans and get the Thameslink from London Bridge directly there. Both have reasonably easy access to the M1.

For others who may not be aware, if you're going to do this you want to park at Luton Airport Parkway, not Luton Airport.

Our train back is 19.26.

Seems we can get South Bermondsey to London Bridge then London Bridge to St Pancras which takes about half hour. Then walk round to Euston

I’m no expert on trains in that region but we parked at St Albans last year for Palace. Not sure if that is any use.

I'm driving down and staying at the Premier Inn at Harrow (Kenton). Been there a few times on London trips as it's easy to get back on the A40 or M1 and it has good tube links into the city but this has caused me to replan.
I had worked out that from London Bridge to get an Uber to Euston (£20 for 3 of us)and then an Overground train to Kenton. I will look into the Thameslink option to St Pancras and see if it is cheaper than the Uber.

Yes, St Albans is on the same route as getting the train from Luton Airport Parkway to London Bridge

I thought it went through London Bridge. Worked well for us going through to Norwood Junction and it goes right past the Den.

One year before Charlton we went in a really good old school boozer in the London Bridge area. For the life of me i can never remember its name or exactly where it was. Anybody any ideas?

If you turn left out of London Bridge train station it is about 150 yards down the road on the left.

The George is traditional but wouldn't say it was an old school boozer. Could be the Bunch of Grapes, that always has plenty of Burnley fans in. Main guess for an old school boozer round the station would be the Old King's Head (which is just between those two so you can easily check all three out).

Could also be the Market Porter (which would be my choice of pub).

What is the small pub called that is actually in Borough Market? I met friends in there before the Charlton game when we went 23 23 undefeated and I am sure the bloke behind the bar was a Burnley fan. It was a tiny place no bigger than the size of a lounge in a house.....

That would be The Rake on Winchester Walk, although the guy from Burnley no longer works behind the bar.

Could well have been the Market Porter, it was down in that direction.

Apologies upfront for the shameless plug(and if this is inappropriate, mods, please do take down...I don't wish to cause upset/offence).

I think I've mentioned before about my chum, Peter Jackson, who runs the Southwark Brewing Company. It's the first of the Bermondsey Mile microbreweries you come to as you go from London Bridge station towards Millwall's ground (if that's what you're planning).

Peter normally opens on a Sunday at 1.00pm but he's opening early (at 12.00) to accommodate anyone going on the game who fancies dropping by for a beer. I think Peter has connections with London Clarets - at least he seems to think they're still going - so I think/hope some of them are going along for a beer before the game.

Anyhow, Peter's asked me to let you know you're all welcome (although you'll have to forgive him for being a big Sunderland fan).

North Bar

Please be aware that - before you enter the stadium - the North Bar will be available for supporters to purchase beverages from.

This will be branded in your club's colours and will close at kick-off.

Bag Drop

The Lions' new Bag Drop policy does not allow bags larger than A4 size into The Den.

NORTH STAND TICKET OFFICE
Visiting supporters are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance from the club before travelling, with prices reduced for advanced purchases.

Away fans are seated in the North Stand.

Supporters can also purchase tickets from the North Stand Ticket Office (subject to availability) situated next to the away turnstiles.

The North Stand Ticket Office is open from:

10am until kick-off for 12.30pm kick-offs
12.30pm until kick-off for 3pm kick-offs
5.30pm until kick-off for 7.45pm kick-offs
We accept both cash and card payments.

It’s just a pity it’s a Sunday fixture as this place would be ideal for a Saturday game. Craft beer is the future………. I’ve tasted it!

Ha ha - well Southwark Brewing is about real ale as much as anything but I know they've been brewing craft (or as old fuddy-duddies like me call it....fizzy) beers for a while now, too.

I'm sure it nowhere near as bad as it used to be. If you went for a pint on your own and kept your head down chances are you'd be fine. But always a chance somebody will hear your Northern accent and have a problem with it.

Yes. If you're getting the train from London Bridge to South Bermondsey, plenty of good watering holes around Borough/London Bridge. Only a short trip (4 minute ride with a train about every 15 mins) to South Bermondsey from L Bridge station and a short walk ( 5mins?) from there to the ground. You can stay in pubs around Borough until after 14.00.

There's plenty of the breweries that are within walking distance of the ground and are fine to go to. Need to check what is open and when though with it being a Sunday.

St James of Bermondsey used to be fine although it's been taken over since I was last there.

My first visit there in 2001, they weren't choosy who they threw bottles and bricks at after the game on the way to the station.
