Received the above this evening, first I had heard about a parking fine, no details about where when etc ... so I went on the you.gov website to find this.

Well and truly over-egged it by saying you could be banned from driving for ignoring a PCN.

“If you pay overdue” ?

Anyone who passed their 11+ should be able to rumble this…

On behalf of the chronically uneducated, thanks for posting the ‘heads-up’.

Mrs VC has had a few of these texts lately, same scam but slightly different wording.

Someone else I know has had one and doesn't even drive so has never owned a car!

Being banned from driving for a parking offence is fairly harsh.

Must have some harsh parking legislation in Nigeria.

Know scams like these his play the percentages of getting a hit but people need to use some common sense

As well as the poorly worded text, how would a car parking company have your phone number?

I paid the fine and sent a extra £20 by way of thanks for their courteous manner.

At least you will sleep easier tonight knowing you won't get a driving ban.

There are actually some legal parking scams. I know at least one Parking Company who takes pictures on the roads around John Lennon Airport and then issues Parking fines up to the point of court proceedings....

The law around what constitutes parking is not that clear and clearly Liverpool Airport doesn't believe in Giving Peace a Chance.

If anyone has fallen for this type of scam please dont worry as I will pay back your money because I'm set to receive £25m from a Nigerian Prince once He's cashed my £500 cheque for handling fees.

Got one today a few minutes after using the ringo app to pay for parking. Even worse it was my lad who used the app and I got the fine notice. Just put a fake plate into the didgt website to convince yourself this is a scam.

I'd rather report it than click on any links and risk it downloading malware to my phone/computer etc

Sadly the parking meters here in Bristol use Ringo as the convenient method of payment for those who don't walk around with the requisite wheelbarrow of cash required to pay for parking in these parts.

I first checked the car involved, which I haven't had since June and then typed random reg numbers in, it asked me to continue every time. Total scam
