FA Cup

Post by Poulton-le-Claret » Sat Oct 12, 2024 11:32 am

Is anyone going to a local FA cup game this weekend?

I am heading to watch AFC Fylde v Rochdale myself. It will be my first visit to this ground and really looking forward to it, as the stadium looks really smart (for their level) whenever I drive past it. Not sure if they allows beers on the terraces for FA cup games?

I also saw a BBC report this morning about Biggleswade FC who are at home to York today, huge game for them and hopefully they can get into the next round :D

A big game for Fylde under new manager Kevin Philips, I hope they do well.

Can't get to a game today but I hope Bury get a win at Harborough.

Went to see my local side Harborough (10 minute walk) play Bury F C and we won 1-0 via a penalty. All ticket game of 2200, when normal attendances are 300-600.Bury brought 600 supporters. Good earthy game. If Harborough get drawn at home next round they will have to play it away as we have a 3G pitch. The wonder of the Cup

Great day out at AFC Fylde despite the result (4-1 to Rochdale). I believe it was Kevin Phillips first game in charge of the Coasters and he's got his work cut out there. Fylde could not get the ball off Rochdale for the majority of the second half!

Really impressed with the ground though, decent atmosphere as well considering there was just over 1,000 in attendance. Food was good value, £4 for a steak and ale pie which was quality! You can get your pie with, gravy, peas and/or curry sauce :D They also have a very smart sports bar for the home fans, went in before and after. It has screens everywhere so ideal to watch the early kick off there. Only complaint of the day was beers were about £6 each and they had sold out of real ale by 2pm (although they do have a good selection from Bowland Brewery, when ales are available).

Will go again :D

I thought if the pitch meets the right standard it is ok to use. Didn’t Sutton play a third round game on an artificial surface? The game when the sub keeper ate a pie on the bench.

My old local side Wealdstone (formerly Ruislip Manor) got through against Gosport. Wealdstone now managed by one of our ex players Mattie Taylor.

I didn't know Taylor had gone into management, good player in his day. Got to ask though, do you know if the Wealdstone Raider still attends the games?
