Guiseley AFC into the FA Cup 1st Round

Post by jdrobbo » Sat Oct 12, 2024 8:51 pm

A good little run to the first round for my nearest side, Lions (Northern Premier) and yet to concede a goal in the competition. After an impressive win against Scunny (what on Earth has gone on there?), today they beat Phil Brown’s Kiddiminster Harriers.

.

1st qualifying round:
Guiseley AFC 3-0 Ashton United (Northern Premier)

2nd qualifying round:
Guiseley AFC 3-0 1874 Northwich (Midland Premier)

3rd qualifying round:
GuiseleyAFC 1-0 Scunthorpe United (National League North)

4th qualifying round:
Kiddiminster Harriers (National League North) 0-1 Guiseley AFC

I bet Harry Ramsdens (now under a new name) around the corner, has done a fine trade this evening!

Hope they get a cracking draw!

Must admit a prefer the first few rounds of the FA cup proper watching the smaller clubs on TV before the big boys enter and disrespect the trophy

Well done, Guiseley, beating Buxton's conquerors, Kidderminster.

Nobody has proclaimed there isn't.

The level of the non league pyramid determines which round clubs enter.

For example,National League clubs played their first game in the competition yesterday, NL North clubs joined in the previous round. Clubs in the Counties were playing in the FA Cup as early as August.

Yes, Guiseley avoided the extra preliminary and preliminary round stages.

Guiseley are away at Lancaster City tomorrow night in a re-arranged NPL game - hopefully they over celebrated on Saturday night and the Dolly Blues can take advantage

I might have a small wager on a Cup "shock" on Saturday after watching the last 3 Stevenage games!!

If Guiseley have a decent defence they have a chance as Stevenage - like Burnley - don't create much and certainly don't score many - 10 goals in 14 games!
