The Clarets Collection at Burnley Library

Post by Rodleydave » Sun Oct 13, 2024 8:40 am

Just an update to say that it goes from strength to strength.
People are still donating items.
Have YOU got anything. Just drop it in.
Old football magazines, annuals, photographs, souvenir edition newspapers, scrapbooks (there are some beauties there) you name it, we collect it.
I never knew there were so many different BFC pens and biros produced over the years.
Trivial things maybe but important memorabilia nonetheless.

Thanks to another large financial donation, this one from Clive Holt, 4 new secure display cabinets have been purchased.
There are plans for a Mike Smith produced BFC film evening at the library on Tuesday Dec 3rd with pie and peas.
No details as yet on price and time or numbers limit.
The next major exhibition opening in November, is based on the goalkeeper Jimmy Strong family collection of his memorabilia.
The family still live in Padiham.

I believe there are bundles of surplus programmes available for collection if you are interested.
When last I saw there was a table of surplus hardback football books for sale.
It's also lovely and warm down there.

I’m pretty sure that Jimmy’s wife taught me in the first year at Rosehill Junior school.

Thought so, our class was 1S and pretty sure her name was Ira or Ida, would be about 1976.

I've no idea of her Christian name - I just know she taught a friend of mine at Rosehill.
