In talks to be the next England manager

Bayern got rid of him far too quickly and then he refused to stay once they had changed their mind. A very experienced manager, good luck to him if he gets it. It'll bring out all the idiots though

Very good manager and ability wise he has everything to succeed as England manager.
The only gripe is obviously his nationality because there's every chance we could play Germany in a major tournament.
He's a big step up from Southgate though.

Tends to argue with his players. Could be another Capello but at least he is tactically astute.

No contest between him and Carsley.

At least he has some track record unlike that berk Southgate.

I'd rather have an Englishman.

I think he'd be a good choice. Quite possibly England are getting in before United imo. Think he's someone who shows authority and that's what's needed to deal with some of these big ego's.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on

He's been left a talented and now very experienced squad who've shown they can now repeatedly get to the finals, or the semis and that's down to the great work and foundations laid by Southgate

Its the perfect time for a more experienced manager to take over, all the hardwork has been done

I'm sure most would prefer an Englishman, however the bottom line is finding someone who can win major trophies with the current crop of very, very talented individuals. Tuchel just may be that man.

I see we’re back to the “big name” managerial choices. Aside from the Champions League win with Chelsea he’s not got much on his CV that makes him stand out.

I’ll be happy to eat my words but I think we’ll be back to the days of being knocked out in the last 16.

Hope he gets it just to see the Daily Mail response to a German managing England.

He got far more out of Kane than VK has

International football/sport is a pretty vague concept now anyway, with players often choosing who to play for and occasionally swapping sides. Inevitable with everyone being so global and interlinked today, which is great and all. And then having a foreign coach too, just all feels a bit Europa League rather than country v country.

Nationality irrelevant for me.

Ability is everything.

I’m soooo bored with the game right now. I’d just like to see the game played properly. Square pegs in square holes, and I’d like to see an end to managers playing the best players even if it means them playing out of position.
The game doesn't need reinventing, it was fine as it was. It was fine for well over a hundred years.

I’d rather have Southgate than someone pretending to be Southgate, which is exactly what Carsley is.

Doesn’t matter what I want tho, there are boxes to tick at the FA, where footballing knowledge and coaching ability come a distant second to a squeaky clean image.

Needs a good start, or sections of the media and fanbase will be all over him due to his nationality.
Would prefer an Englishman personally but if the options are Carsley or Potter i'll take Tuchel.

Happy with him being appointed, I couldn't care less where he comes from.

He’s certainly got pedigree and comes across well. Thanks to the job Southgate did the expectation is now that he must win something to be successful. No good just making finals now!

I really rate Tuchel never understood why Chelsea shifted him on.

I actually think Tuchel would prefer to play with quick wingers than palmer and Foden.

So perhaps he will tweak the system

Can’t really think of any other English left back that would suit his system

(Worth noting He picked Chillwell as his starting left back at Chelsea)

He’s adaptable so not sure why he’d have to play a certain shape just cause he did for one set of players. It was a 4-2-3-1 in the CL semi v Madrid last season, they were v unlucky not to go through.

Very surprised that the FA have made such a bold decision-personally I think he has, as Simon Jordan says, a winning gene in him, which Southgate and Carsley dont. With the wealth of talent we have I am quite excited

Yes, that's the minimum requirement now after Southgates tenure

Good luck to him but don’t expect miracles. The problem with English football is average English coaches and players that look good in club football, surrounded by foreign talent, but aren’t all that when without them, as against Greece.
English players are what they have always been happier smoking, drinking, sex maniac, party animals. Foreign players are far more committed to their career and realise how lucky they are. They get the same amount of press scrutiny as our guys but nowhere near the number of sordid stories.

Too thin-skinned and petulant to carry it off I think. Has a track record of falling out with owners and players. Should be interesting ! I’m surprised they haven’t gone for Eddie Howe though who knows what manoeuvrings and conversations have gone on behind the scenes.

Coincidentally, and not knowing about Tuchel, I bought my first German made car today. I was also on holiday there last week.

If he can teach the team how to win penalty shootouts we may actually win something!

We reached the final in consecutive Euros and were a couple of penalty kicks away from winning it.

The party animals line is nonsense. This isn’t the same days as Gazza and the dentist chair. Players like Saka, Kane, Rice and Bellingham are pretty much model pros.

I think you need to read the relatively recent stories about some of the other teams, notably France and the Netherlands, as they are hardly whiter than white.

As for Tuchel, a very surprising choice by the FA - not because of nationality but more his personality. He’s high quality but also pretty combustible. International management is a different beast to club management though. It won’t be dull which should at least please a lot of Southgate doubters.
