Might Westley be under consideration for the first team squad for Saturday? Foster likely to be missing.

Strange first half to be honest. Barnsley have had more of the play and we’ve been a bit fortunate a number of times not to concede again. I wouldn’t say anyone has stood out tonight so far.

Brilliant turnaround by the sounds of it. Sounds a bit like Brighton, started poorly and then taken a foothold. Looking forward to seeing the highlights.

I would love the lad to prove me wrong, but in his month at Rochdale he didn't start a game and just made a few sub appearances.

The gulf between the U21 league we're in and the Championship is huge.

I really couldn't see him or Masara being involved if Flemming and Hountondji are both fit.

But once again I'd be the first to celebrate if one of the young lads came on and showed their worth.

Some interesting comments from McDermott and Hugill about the impact of integration into the 1st team squad, even on the bench.
Whilst getting the pressure on managers to win I'd like to see us bring an U21 into the matchday squad every game (after all there's 9 subs
named).Who know's what affect it may have?

I remember Ollie Younger & Dwight McNeil being drafted into the first team squad for a game at Swansea in 2017/18 because of injuries. The two were interviewed afterwards and it was so clear that they'd learned and benefited so much from the experience even though they didn't make the bench.

I think being included in the squad clearly boosts young lads. But from there to actually making an impact in Championship matches is a different debate.

We had two lads come on at Wolves but then four on the bench at Sunderland.

Strikers are the hardest to find - nothing new there - and they will always be judged by the majority of fans by their return in goals.

I think it's easier to break in midfielders towards the end of games ideally when the result is more or less certain.

I've noticed that some of our U21s look to have been in the gym. Hugill certainly looks like he could put himself about a bit. The young players used to look very puny against first team players but not any more. Is it me or do players look bigger and stronger the higher up the divisions you go?
