Was anyone else concerned when he talked about the impact of playing twice a week meant that they couldn't train on the grass and had to instead spend more times in meetings?

Sounds like they aren't cracking the whip enough. We need ultra fitness.

Common practice I think. You can't build fitness during 2 or 3 game weeks. Fitness is built in pre season and then just topped up where possible and necessary.

Think that's why players regularly say how important a full pre season is

There wouldn’t be much time for “training” next week though
I’d have thought Sunday and Thursday would be “rest days” after the matches and Tuesday & Friday would be a light session/ briefing days

Not concerned at all - that's how it should be

I think he said a couple of weeks ago that one of the injured players was out on the grass and starting their pre-season fitness regime.

The questions he gets asked are so dreadful.

Is it a good opportunity for another forward to come in and take his chance??

No, course not.
Awful stuff.

Has the extra 10 days together been helpful working with the players??

Nah, I'm sick of them.

I enjoy Parker’s pressers a lot. I actually think the questions he gets asked at quite thoughtful and that he bothers to listen to the question then answers it directly, which can’t be said for all managers.

I enjoy Parkers pressers plenty, however 007 is right.... the questions are shocking. Almost rhetorical. It's clearly well controlled and appears to be the same 2 interviewers each time.

The questions are almost closed type questions where he is lead into a position to give an easy answer. Of course I don't want him tripping up but some creativity wouldn't go amiss. Talking about a couple of players hopefully being ready in next few weeks, is it too much to ask which ones?

Yes. He, and all other managers, have a duty of confidentiality about medical issues, I had to do compulsory FA courses on safeguarding and player welfare to be allowed to manage an over 63s walking football team in an FA sanctioned league! I'm sure those holding UEFA licences have to get into much more detail than I do.

Besides, if he said which ones and then they had a setback, like the ones suffered by Beyer, for example, then some on here would castigate him for not being right.

"It's about getting that detail in, you probably haven't got the time on the grass it's more about meetings and video analysis". My understanding from it was that he wasn't saying they don't train, but the detail work of defensive and attacking situations has to be more theoretical rather than drills on a training pitch.

I'm not complaining about Parker's answers, just the banal questions he gets each week. I remember Dyche having a laugh in those meetings, they feel much safer now and more controlled.
Shame, but not a big deal.

Not moaning so much as questioning the quality of the interviewers?

Think Dyche spent more time being rude than having a laugh

I was thinking about Dyche too whilst reading this. There were far too many slogan type answers in Dyche’s comments and the way he avoided saying very much of anything would make him a good politician. He could also, as has been pointed out, be quite rude too. To be fair he didn’t suffer fools.
Parker does seem likeable and quite honest and considering the upheaval after he came I think he’s doing an excellent job. A win tomorrow and the right results from two games and we are top. Can’t argue with that.

How many press attend these pre match conferences. With the camera firmly on Scotty you cant tell, but it usually opens up with a certain member of the media asking about 70% of the questions, then at best only a further member of press completing the questions. So is just two of the media making up the media at most of these

Is it two members of the press or does one of them work for the club? A lot different from the Premier League.

Hi Mik, thanks for the reply, although I think it's inaccurate. I am also a licensed coach with the FA. SG / DBS / FAIF..... I am not asking for anyone's private medical records at all. The manager said there are a few who are near.... surely a follow up question would be who? Or are you able to say which players?
Neither requires anyones private medical information or any breach of GDPR.

Just to be clear... I am a Parker fan. I think the people asking the questions could ask them in a better manner, perhaps by asking open questions to illicit more information. (Not individuals private medical records)!

Why would anyone give away team details before a match?

But Parker isn't medically trained and so isn't qualified to say where people are in their recovery programme himself. So he would be reporting medical info given to him by those who are qualified - which is personal info.

He may be able to speculate that 'player A' should be ready in 3 weeks or 'player B' will be available next week, but it is an inexact science, and any reader of this board (or any BFC or other club's) should recognise that there are so many experts using messageboards that will take those words as gospel that it is way better to not speculate at all.

Liked the reply from on Hanibal. I feel he’s growing game by game. Massive potential that Parker obviously recognises. Probably reflects the team really. Exciting work in progress…

Are you ok?

All the time managers, including Parker saying X is a couple of weeks away or Y is a longer term one. We know who the long term ones are, I was just interested to see out of the group who may be getting closer, Ramsey / Tressor and others who may be closest.

The interviews questions are still one dimensional.

Sorry to have caused offence Dr / journalist who asks questions in SP's dressers.
