A farmer in Colne caught 2 lads trying to rob on his land, gave them a good hiding, tied them up and took them to Colne police station like this then got arrested hiself

Brilliant because one thing I hate is thief’s, sad world that he will probably get more done than the scrotes.

Do police still work from there, even if it is closed to the public? If that is the case then there is every possibility that they were arrested there.

Definitely some truth in this story. I saw the bike parked up on the pavement surrounded by Police cars etc the other night but it wasn't outside the Police station. Couldn't see what was going on as i was driving at the time. Assumed that they'd stopped a stolen bike.

Good on the farmer if true. Hope he gave em a lot of pain in the process. An English man’s home is his castle and should be defended.

One of the comments suggests they were riding e-bikes on his land, which started an altercation.

Most people seem to backing the farmer but I would imagine he is in some trouble for this. You cant tie people up and transport them on public roads like cattle

The farmer unfortunately could be in trouble IF he did transport them like the picture shows, it possible he made them walk/run behind the quad bike till he got them to the Police station then secured them as he went to get assistance. As it not open to the public, he should have taken a picture of them tied to the Police Station doors not to the quad bike.

Proper gammon reactions on here. People seem to want a vigilante run system where people are able to take the law into their own hands. If this story is true, then the farmer absolutely should have been arrested.

Id opt for a civilised country with laws personally...not some Trumpian version of a social media-led wild west.

Lets hope Farmer Giles faces any laws appropriate to his actions.
And the scrotes, if indeed they are proven to be culpable.

Fair do’s to the farmer? Absolute madness. So it’s fine to beat people up, tie them up and drive with them tied up (surely dangerous.)

I sometimes wonder how people like Trump, Johnson, Farage etc get so much traction but then I see things like this.

Whilst I broadly agree with you, the current level of policing "service" received by many increases the likelihood of vigilante responses, especially to low level crimes. They simply don't turn up when you need them - and much of the time you're fobbed off with a crime reference number over the phone.

I've lost count of the number of times (at least here in Manchester) where friends and relatives have received totally inadequate support from the police when crimes are taking place, or after the fact. I can see why people are tempted to deal with issues themselves when the police don't/won't/can't.

Without getting myself embroiled in this I will say that in your post "IF it's true what they have done, then fair do's to the farmer" implies nobody as yet knows for sure and so meting out "justice" COULD land someone in a whole lot of bother. Which is why some people are saying vigilante "justice" is extremely dangerous, because nothing has been proved and people can get it seriously wrong.

There's barely any chat about the farmer before your comment, it's mostly about the police station.

Pretending there has been some sort of outcry on here just to try and shoe horn the word "gammon" in to your post is a bit odd to say the least.

The laws haven’t been properly implemented & aren’t fit for purpose that’s why some folk are at the end of their tether & are taking the law into their own hands. The systems been woefully inadequate & failing honest law abiding people for years.

True story. About 10 years ago a farmer near me caught two youths messing about, he man handled them both into his cattle trailer - the ones you put sheep in, attached to his Land Rover, he then drove down to where he owns a few fields and drove round those fields at speed over the bumps and divots for good while, stopped and let them out and said “do it again and it’ll be a longer ride next time. Needless to say even though the youths were battered and bruised, puking everywhere they never did it again.

Last year whilst returning from Todmorden a guy overtook us on a dangerous bend and within a mile we saw the car speeding back towards us ,it had apparently hit a car and left the occupancy’s trapped inside ,we called the police and it took them 2 hours to arrive and they came from Halifax .I just hope you wouldn’t have to wait so long if your families life was being endangered.

I don't need to. It's extremely evident just how much control lawless people have & no control the people are meant to have it lack.

Whether the story is true or fake, nobody seems to know.

What I find hilarious is that it doesn't take long for gammon, Trump, Farage, etc to get trotted out.

FWIW my opinion is you clearly cannot take the law into your own hands but then again if you've been subjected to criminality and maybe the law hasn't exactly responded positively you can understand why this kind of thing happens.

I wonder what would happen if someone rang the police and said they had caught a burglar and locked him in the cellar. Because then if they refused to attend, the householder might say they won't let them out for fear of instant reprisals; what happens next?

I think the householder would get done for false imprisonment or kidnap or something.

Yes, I sort of knew all that. But what if the criminal doesn't want to be arrested? if this farmer thing is for real he'd have had to be pretty smart and tough to legally perform a citizens arrest on 2 people.

These e-bikes, or those that seem to ride them more to the point, are an absolute menace to society.

Well done that farmer for nicking these lads himself if the police couldn’t attend.
