He’ll have two relegations on his CV. Much as I loved Muric in our Championship season, he is sadly too error prone for the PL and he is costing Ipswich points they can’t afford to lose

Last season there were calls for Trafford to be left out and rightly so but Muric came back and cost us at Everton and then at home against Brighton with horrible mistakes. I remember one poster in the player ratings constantly giving Trafford a 4 or 5 giving Muric at least 7 in those two games.

As much as he plays it out so well from the back, I agree with Culmclaret that he's far too error prone and Ipswich seem to be finding that out now.

Don't you just love it when former players chip in with stuff like this! Entitled to an opinion I guess.

Great player who had a go at management at Stoke, Colchester and Birmingham without pulling up any trees. Didn't hear a peep from him over the last couple of seasons while McKenna was taking Ipswich to their best position in years yet a few poor results in a different level of football and he comes up with this.

For what it's worth I think Muric has a rickett in him but conceding goals involves a lot of other players too.

I was speaking to an Ipswich fan recently who said he'd prefer Hladky over Muric. That's Hladky who sits on our bench behind Trafford, who most wanted dropping for Muric.

I think that what Mick Mills has stated here very much sums up the feeling in the local bars in Suvverk. Muric makes them very nervous. It's quite amusing actually with my having been the target of much banter locally resulting from the Muric and O'Shea deals! I joked at the time to all the locals that with respect to Muric, they'd been had! I think that Mills has had plenty to say with respect to Ipswich Town in recent times as co-commentator on BBC Radio Suffolk but it's very easy to fall asleep whilst listening to him!

Looks like there are plenty of Ipswich fans who are not too enamoured with his distribution either. Plenty of comments on their forum saying he has lost his confidence with his kicking and was doing the weird thing of throwing it to the half way line for most of the second half last Saturday.

But hardly any wonder they are questioning why they paid all this money for a keeper who makes as many big mistakes as Muric has in his career. Everything is amplified in the Premier League - you make mistakes and they get punished more than they don’t. In his first season in the championship he made plenty of mistakes with his distribution that did not end up costing us but very likely would do (and did) in the EPL.

All that said none of this should come as no surprise to Ipswich - they have got exactly the type of keeper they bought.

The way they treated the keeper that got them promoted and by all accounts had a brilliant season looks pretty similar to the way we treated a lot of our players last season - including Muric.

I remember Mills fell out out with the Ipswich hierarchy in a huge way over the way he was released from the club after his long service, I think he quite enjoys putting the boot in to this day. Last I saw of him was mourning the end of the Ford Fiesta, the first I knew that he was chairman of the Ford Fiesta owners club… always looked a party animal.

James Trafford has survived being thrown in by VK before he was ready, and is now steadily improving. I'd certainly have him in our side now ahead of Muric.

Anyone else thinking what I was thinking when seeing just the name Mick Mills in the title?

He absolutely will not, ever, kick it long in the traditional goalkeeper style. He'll try a 50 yard Hollywood ball, but not your usual up and under.

Muric has certainly looked a little shaky of late. I think Trafford will be sold either in January but most probably in the summer, I think Newcastle are keeping an eye on him, and If he does go we’ll be fine with our current number 2.

If Ipswich fans are like our fans then Muric in the next month could be described as the new Gordon Banks by them if they manage to win a couple of games with him in the nets.

I was also talking to an Ipswich fan over the weekend who much prefers Hladky to Muric based on what he's seen so far.

Was it not the case that he dreamed of playing for one of the linked clubs over the summer (ALLEGEDLY) far more likely to be Celtic I'd imagine.

Thought it last season and still think it now.

Trafford is a significantly better goalkeeper and will have a much more impressive career.

Kompany really showed his inexperience as a man manager last season with Trafford more than anyone. He was really hung out to dry.

But with the pretty consistent improvement this term he’s really starting to show he is going to be a top level goalkeeper. I anticipate he’ll spend the majority of his career in the premier league.

He wanted to play for a Pl club and got his wish with VK. Earns the money and takes the responsibility that goes with it.
I think he's looking more confident now, but it is the 2nd tier.

I was delighted when we sold Muric.

As a few have already noted:

JT is fundamentally better. JT will probably have an excellent career. Will undoubtedly become a regular in the England squad.
VK threw him in far too soon, even after Muric had a better pre-season and it was "His shirt to lose".

AM has some ability. I don't think he has the mental capacity / maturity to rely upon.

I'm glad we moved on. Despite his likeable, idiosyncratic traits I just don't find him likeable. I never got the great "love-in" some posters had. Approx £5m profit is outstanding business.

I don't see what you see in Trafford. Even if we make allowances for his destruction last season and that he may well be still on the road to recovery, he looks pretty solid but no more. His kicking ability is not that good yet - maybe it can be improved on but it couldn't with Nick Pope.

His rivals for England are presumably those fellow England u-21 goalkeepers, which are James Beadle (Sheffield Wednesday, on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion) and Sam Tickle (Wigan Athletic). I've not seen Tickle. Clearly Trafford has more experience then these two. The Pickford rivals in the England squad are both 26 - Ramsdale and Henderson.
