Ballon d’Or 2024
Rodri wins it.
Well deserved he such a rolls Royce of a player.
Hoepfully comes back the same player after his injury.

Excellent player.
Well done to Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid who reacted with such dignity to Rodri coming out on top.

Re: Ballon d’Or 2024
Real Madrid epitomise everything wrong with the modern game. They are like a kid at Christmas when it comes to footballers always wanting the latest best thing and toss them aside when they get bored. They kick off in covid and plead poverty yet miraculously find money to revamp their stadium. They are also instigators of the super league. It comes as no surprise their reaction to last night. I’m waiting for them to blame it on racism.
The sooner those type of clubs sod off or go bust the better.
Real Madrid
Barcelona
Juventus
Man Utd
Liverpool
Chelsea
City
Psg
All **** in the same pot.

Re: Ballon d’Or 2024
I'm still bemused that Emi Martinez is the best goalkeeper! By no means the best in the Premier League imho. But this is the same bunch that voted Allison Becker the best in the world a few years ago when the English PFA voted Nick Pope No1 the same year.
Not to mention when they awarded Leeds the most sporting team of the year when they gifted a goal to someone..........with their record over decades you could'nt make it up

Re: Ballon d’Or 2024
Allison won the Copa America and Champions League. What did Pope win that season?

What am I missing with the Vinicius Jr thing?
It seems like the player, manager and everyone connected to Real Madrid have massively thrown their toys out.

If any Madrid player deserved it it was Dani Carvajal

Claiming European bias now. Have they forgotten Messi was South American?FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 10:58 pmWhat am I missing with the Vinicius Jr thing?

15 goals in 26 appearances last season according to Wiki. It’s a good return but not so good that he’s an absolute dead cert for a top award.SydneyClaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 12:28 amClaiming European bias now. Have they forgotten Messi was South American?

Re: Ballon d’Or 2024
I think the above nominations from the 2004 season shows how much the standard of football has dropped in the last 20 years, despite what everyone tells us, yes the average quality may be better, but superstars...fewer and fewer every year

Re: Ballon d’Or 2024

Re: Ballon d’Or 2024
I know that, but having a great season doesn’t make a superstar. You need to do it year in year out to be considered that.Cleveleys_claret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 5:46 pmThe whole purpose of the award is to be judged on the last season
