Tresor getting closer to selection
Sarmiento had a good week and may be available at the weekend
Side note, absolute amateur stuff again. I'm 99% sure Parker's mic wasn't even turned on

Tresor ..... available in the coming weeks according to parker. Be very surprised if we ever see him playing for us. Parker very guarded in what he said.

He's been saying that for a few months. It's ridiculous, he cost us a fortune.

It will get just to the point where Tresor is "ready" and he will pickup a "knock" in training and then he will leave in Jan

Very clever from Parker. Lulling the Millwall management team into a false sense of security before he unexpectedly unleashes Tresor on Sunday afternoon.

Two months since Tresors heart was broken when Ajax wouldn’t pay our asking price. It’s now looking very likely the fans are being fed prize bullshit , I thought Parker was more honest than VK. Isn’t Tresor our most expensive signing , for fans to
get treated like this is very disappointing.

Shame that the first reporter spent 70% of the time pontificating about stats and how Parker interpreted that. I suspect most of our fans would have preferred a more direct approach, once Parker had commented on Tresor ie "we were led to believe that he started his training around a month ago,can you see him featuring before the next international break?" and "what has exactly been the hold up in Tresor getting to a match fit stage ?" , plus" is there a chance of Foster being fit before the International break ?"

The problem with being honest is we may reduce the fee we get for him. A “won’t ever play for us” quote certainly reduces our bargaining position.

With 2 months before the window opens you'd think he will want to put himself in the shop window and play as much as he can. A team won't want him for the remainder of this season if he hasn't played.

Strikes me as someone you would not want to be in the trenches with-a bit like Weghorst

These pressers are getting more pointless every season.
But at least we can assume that we will start with either Rodriguez or Houndondji as a lone striker

Odd comments about Tresor on here which don't match Parker's comments in the press conference. Parker implies, as far I can see, that we can expect to see Tresor back in action over the next 10 days or so. Which would be great news as we could do with a player of his sort of qualities.

Parker is literally building up expectations Tresor's all but fit and ready. He's unlikely to do that, given everything, if he isn't expecting Tresor to feature imminently.
Given that, this is probably the time to give Tresor the benefit of the doubt. The level of cynicism right now feels a little OTT. We're crying out for a player of his ilk and if we can get him fit and firing it has the potential to transform our attack this season so we'd be better off getting behind him if indeed he does appear in the coming days.

What a waste of time that was. A load of waffle about statistics and not a single direct question about player injuries/fitness/availability. Those 'reporters' should be replaced by ordinary fans with proper questions. Make the manager squirm and give us information, and not just in 'certain moments'.

Ah nows the time to give him the benefit of the doubt. I thought that after Luton or at the start of this season. Or basically every week since he joined about 15 months ago.

He may have been a misplaced signing and he may not have performed well last season but there are lots of reasons for that and they're not sll his own fault. In any event it is what it is.
As for this season, if he's been ill or injured - and if he's almost fit now than that aligns with the previous indications given by the club - it's a bit weird to hold it against him. And frankly if and when he does appear there's a lot more chance of him wanting to hang about and put something back if he feels supported and wanted, rather than getting the backlash from a load of potentially half baked conspiracy theories.

Players in the passed who hadn’t played for weeks got better the longer they were out ,Tresor at that rate must be a cross between Ronaldo and Messi.

Time and time again - to be honest with you. I think all of us are the same with our own little catchphrases but it stands out so much when you listen to someone on a regular basis.

For sure, in certain moments.
I really enjoy listening to him though. Feel he’s much more open and heart on his sleeve than either Dyche or Kompany who seemed much more media savvy and guarded.

I reckon everyone posting on this thread would do exactly as you suggest, if Tresor gets into the team we will treat it like the second coming. But the cynic is saying that we are fattening up the pig ready for market, i.e. training a player who won’t play so we can say he is match fit and get a value. If it turns out that is nonsense, that would be proven by game 1, so everyone will accept that and get behind him.

You can't be match fit if you don't play in matches. He'll need appearances by January for a club to consider him as a decent acquisition for the remainder of the season. It works for us if he plays and plays well and it works for him if he plays and plays well.

Yes but that cynicism might have been reasonable 48 hours ago, when the club hadn't updated on previous vague messages on when Tresor might be fit. But it's a bit overblown when it comes on the back of an interview during which Parker has said something which directly contradicts that speculation. It's almost as though folk aren't listening. The messages on why he's been missing remain vague for whatever reason, but we've been told the player is working his way back to fitness after an unspecified illness. We're now told he's been training well, hasn't had any set backs and is now selectable. Given that those messages are consistent, why the need for conspiracy theories?
Better to be positive, because if Tresor can be ready for the challenging run over the last 6 weeks of the year that is a huge boost. We're lacking creativity, quality in the final third and set piece delivery. Tresor has a CV that suggests he can offer all three - he's had more success in Belgian football than either Zaroury, Vitinho or Benson had before they signed for Burnley 2 years ago. He needs to kickstart his career after an abortive season last year, and we desperately need his quality. Perhaps you are right that people will support him when he appears but that cynicism has a habit of translating into impatience and that's not in anyone's interest.

Please could someone speculate whether that's the last we've ever seen of Tresor? There isn't nearly enough of it in every thread relating to team selection and I think if we collectively up our game we could get the mentions up to 20-30 times per thread instead of just ten or so.
Cheers

TBF Parker mentioned that he was almost fit and ready to be selected so he’s going to be discussed.
We do have a few players on the books where we do not have a clue either why they are not available or an idea of where they are in their return.
Delacroix - is he injured ?
Ekdal - what is the injury / when is he back ?
Redmond - how long before back ?
Ramsay - back on the grass a few weeks ago I think.
Benson - what injury did he pick up against Blackburn ? How serious was it ?
Beyer - we know about
Sambo - haven’t got a clue what has happened to him.
Worrall - not sure how serious injury was /how long he’s out
Foster - again not sure how serious injury he has.
Include Tresor into this (who now appears to be available) and that’s a full team of players which we have missing. I know that when you have a squad of 25 there will always be a number left out. But we have had a lot of serious long term injuries combined with a fair bit of “no idea why they are not playing” players this last 12 months. Maybe that’s inevitable when you buy as many players as VK did under his tenure but I have never known a time like this supporting Burnley.
Would not like to guess how much in transfer fees and wages we have had missing and not available every week for the year or so - but pretty sure it’s an eye watering amount

Parker said Ekdal and Redmond were back on grass but some way away from playing, yesterday. We know Redmond has had surgery and we know Ekdal picked up a nasty injury with Sweden. With the exception of Dekcroix, I think the basic prognosis for every player is known.

I’m sure it is by the club !!
We still have little or no idea why Tresor was missing for so long. We have no idea why Sambo is not involved. At various points we seem to have little idea as to why Benson is not available.
But the general point is that most weeks we have a hell of a lot of players not available for selection and that this never looks like it’s going to change significantly.
