Most I’ve seen is 27 by Payton in the 99/00 season
That’s league goals btw so with cups could break 30

Still the best centre forward I've ever seen play for us and I don't think that will ever change. Willie scored all types of goals and I can still picture him running 60 yards at pace in a League Cup tie at QPR in 1967 before hammering the ball past the keeper. 3 months later and that dirty barsteward Morrissey at Everton albeit ended his Clarets career. Thanks for the memories Willie.

I remember getting his autograph whilst he was in plaster sitting at the side of the players entrance in the old Bob Lord stand. I actually reminded him of this fact when I bought him a pint of Guinness many years later in the hospitality area of the JH
He really benefited from having big Andy Lochead as a striking partner. So many of his goals came from Andy's knockdowns.

And they remained friends long after their careers had finished.
